I. INTRODUCTION
Plant cytology is the study of shape, arrangement and physical and chemical
properties of plant cells. Cell was first discovered by Robert Hooke (1665) on a thin
cutting of cork which he observed under a microscope. Almost two centuries later,
Robert Brown found an opaque spot on plant cells which later he called nucleus.
Plant cells have various shapes, such as cuboidal, prismatic, cylindrical, polyhedral,

Compared to animal cell, plant cell has several differences on their structure
and anatomy. The differences are the presence of vacuole, cell walls and chloroplast.
