Course Description: This year we will be learning introduction to game design,


coding/programming using Flash and Action Script. Students will be designing and creating two
games. They will be given the opportunity to lead discussions, use information through use of
articles and apply it to real life situations. This will allow for students to develop and improve their
communication and social skills. Students are expected to spend a considerable amount of time
practicing the skills learned in class every week. These may include presentations, communication
or computer skills. Some of the careers that this course can lead to will be computer programmers
and game designers.

- What comes to your mind when you hear the word Globaloria?

- How has Globaloria changed game design?

- How has Globaloria impact the lives of students across America?

Project-based Learning Opportunities:

Performance Task:

-Blogging at Globaloria, Hidden Object game(Player will find objects) and Action game(Player will
has a choice of controlling a moving character with arrow keys).

Projects:

- 6 Ps of Globaloria(6 process of Globaloria), paper prototype and Queen of code.


Communication: Parents will be informed about student progress and updates via Skedula /
PupilPath. Phone calls will be made as well. My email is ygonzalez@tywlsqueens.org

Extra Help: Homework will be posted on a weekly basis on Skedula/PupilPath in order to help
students keep track of the assignments and know what is required. Students will use online
resources to emphasize and reinforce topics covered in class. Students will be supported by peers
as well as the teacher in a matter concerning the course. The assistance can be individual or as a
group.
