30th Psychological Association of the Philippines - Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) *theme

Introduction

The CvSU-SC Psychology Society 16-17, as included in the calendar of activites,


requested permission to attend the Annual 30th PAPJA Convention on January 20,
2017 to be held at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City and on January
21, 2017 in the selected host school. All of the third year and fourthyear Psychology
Students and other selected students were inivited to attend the event.
The PAPJA convention is the annual gathering of Psychology students in the
Philippines which serves as an important venue for the sharing of recent
developements in the field of psychology as a science, exposure to the practice of
Psycholgoy through workshops, exchange of ideas, and fellowship (depict from
PAPJA 30th Annual Convetion Invitation Letter). Moreover, this is the first time of the
CvSU-SC Psychology students to attend the convention.

PREPARATION

On December 13, 2016, the letter was approved by the Office of the University
President which signals another step towards the preparation of the event. The ticket
cost for the Convetion is PhP 700.00 for the early bird registration and PhP 750.00 for
the regular registaion. We managed to avail the early bird registration cost for the
participants. Moreover, we started the collection of the payments for the tickets.

Since it was noted by the Campus Dean to ensure the safety of the participants
from the start and to the very end of the event, it was decided by the whole body to
rent two public busses to accommodate all of the participants from the departure on
CvSU-SC and departure on the conventions venue. Certain bidders were presented to
the organization and subsequently weve come to the decision to choose the Lorna
Express Bus Company to provide transporation to the participants. Two busses was
contracted for two days. Furthermore, the transportion cost was added to the total fee
to be paid by the partcipants.

On January 18, 2017, two days before the aforementioned event, we conducted a
general assembly to orient, discuss imporatant matters and give instructions to the
participants. There, we decided to have our organizational shirt which is to be funded
by the Central Student Government. With the organization shirt, we will be able to
represent our university throughout the event.

EVENT PROPER

We set the meeting time at exactly at 4:00 am the university rotonda. There were
no problems during the assembly of the participants and we departed at exactly 6:00
am. There were no conflicts during the 1 hour travel time and weve arrived at the
venue at 7:00 am. The PsychSoc officers facilitated the entry of the participants. Lines
were formed during the distribution of the conventions paraphernalia. As the
participants entered the SMX Convention Center, the officers searched for available
unoccupied seats at the venue. We were assisted by one of the PAPJA officers and
subsequently found the right space to accommodate the particpants. Overall, the first
day of the event was exciting though there were points in which participants seems to
lose interest. Moreover, topic during the event were contemporary and the participants
was set to the essence of the theme of the 30th Annual Convention.
