OXYGEN SYSTEM INTRODUCTION (1)

General
The oxygen system supplies crew and passengers with oxygen in case
of cabin depressurization.
The oxygen system is composed of three different subsystems:
The crew oxygen system,
The passenger oxygen system and,
The portable oxygen system.

OXYGEN SYSTEM INTRODUCTION (1)

Flight Crew Oxygen System
The flight crew oxygen masks are supplied from a high pressure oxygen
cylinder located in the upper emergency electronic bay.
The pressure reducer/transmitter reduces the oxygen pressure to supply
the masks and sends the value of the pressure to the Control and Display
System (CDS) via the Oxygen System Control Unit (OSCU).
The low pressure valve is activated on crew action from the oxygen panel
in the cockpit.

OXYGEN SYSTEM INTRODUCTION (1)

Passenger Oxygen System
The passenger oxygen is supplied from a gaseous system. Oxygen is
stored in high-pressure composite cylinders installed in the right hand
side of the forward cargo compartment. The oxygen mask container
assemblies are located:
- Above the passenger seats,
- In the lavatories and galleys,
- Above each cabin attendant seat and,
- In the crew rest compartments.
The system is automatically activated depending on the cabin altitude,
by the Oxygen System Control Unit (OSCU) that receives data from the
CPCS (via CPIOM's B), or by the altitude pressure switch as a back up.
The flight crew can also manually activate it.
As soon as the system is activated, the SYS ON light is on.
The pressure reducer/transmitter reduces the oxygen pressure to supply
the masks and sends the value of the pressure to the Control and Display
System (CDS) via the Oxygen System Control Unit (OSCU).
A specific tool is used for individual oxygen container manual opening.

OXYGEN SYSTEM INTRODUCTION (1)

Portable Oxygen System
The protective breathing equipment is used in case of fire or emission of
smoke or noxious gas. Eyes and lungs are protected and the user can
move freely in the aircraft.
Protective Breathing Equipment (PBE) is installed in the cockpit and at
each mandatory cabin attendant seat.
A portable oxygen cylinder is also installed at each mandatory cabin
attendant seat. Each cylinder is equipped with a full face quick donning
mask for passenger use.

FLIGHT CREW OXYGEN SYSTEM PRESENTATION (1)

General
The flight crew oxygen system supplies the flight crew members with
oxygen in the case of loss of cabin pressure altitude or emission of smoke
or toxic gas.
An action on the oxygen panel activates the low-pressure valve so the
oxygen can flow from the oxygen cylinder to the oxygen masks.

FLIGHT CREW OXYGEN SYSTEM PRESENTATION (1)

Crew Oxygen
The flight crew oxygen system has three sections:
The oxygen storage,
The oxygen distribution and
The oxygen control and indicating.
STORAGE
The flight crew oxygen is stored in a high-pressure oxygen cylinder.
This cylinder is located in the upper avionics compartment and placed
in a cradle.
DISTRIBUTION
The oxygen supplies the flight crew stations through a distribution
circuit. High pressure is reduced to low pressure by the pressure
reducer/transmitter.
Low pressure oxygen flows via the low pressure supply valve to the
distribution manifold. Then, the manifold supplies the oxygen to the
mask stowage boxes in the cockpit.
Each mask stowage box is equipped with a full face quick donning
mask.
CONTROL AND INDICATING
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM35P1000000001

A pushbutton switch, located on the overhead panel, controls the low

pressure supply valve.
The status of the flight crew oxygen system (oxygen supply, oxygen
pressure in the cylinder, high pressure or low pressure warnings) is
indicated on the DOOR/OXY page of the ECAM system display (SD).

PASSENGER OXYGEN SYSTEM PRESENTATION (1)

General
The passenger oxygen system supplies cabin passengers with oxygen in
case of loss of cabin pressure altitude or emission of smoke or toxic gas.
Oxygen can be supplied automatically depending on the altitude or
manually via the cockpit oxygen panel.

Passenger Oxygen
The passenger oxygen system has three sections:
The oxygen storage,
The oxygen distribution and
The oxygen control and indicating.
STORAGE
The oxygen cylinders are installed in the right hand side of the forward
cargo compartment.
DISTRIBUTION
The oxygen supllies the passenger masks through a distribution circuit.
High pressure is reduced to low pressure by the pressure
reducer/transmitters. Low pressure oxygen flows via the oxygen
regulator to the distribution lines connected to the masks.
CONTROL AND INDICATING
The system can be automatically activated when the cabin altitude
exceeds 14000ft, by the CPCS application hosted the CPIOM B's
through the Oxygen System Control Unit (OSCU), or directly by the
altitude pressure switch as a back up. It can also be manually activated
on crew action. The "SYS ON" indicator light comes on in both cases.
L1W06161 - L0KT0T0 - LM35P2000000001

A manual release tool triggers the oxygen container opening.

A reset is available to rearm the electrical system.
The status of the passenger oxygen system (oxygen supply, oxygen
pressure, high pressure or low pressure warnings) is indicated on the
DOOR/OXY page of the ECAM System Display.
