Methamphetamine

Methamphetamines chemical name is (S)-N, a-Dimethylbenzene-thanamine; d-N-

methylamphetamine, which has a chemical formulas of C10H15N. Methamphetamine is
created by attaching a methyl group to the side of the chain of amphetamine (3)(1).
Methyl group protects the amphetamine from degradation by monoamine oxidise (3).
Methamphetamine was discovered in 1893 and was rated by ranker.com to be the 5th
most dangerous and addictive drugs on earth - has an addiction likelihood rate of
89.5% which is higher than Cocane, cracks, alcohol and marijuana (4).

Purpose and Application

Methamphetamine or meth are illegal to all countries on earth since its high and
dangerous effects on humans bodies, immune systems and brains (2).
Methamphetamine users side affects are rapid mood changes, cognitive decline, anxiety
and depressive states as well as increased attention, since the immune system has taken
one of the important role in the pathogenesis of the neuropsychiatric disorders (2).
Methamphetamine was first made in 1887 since it has been kept secret, was developed
in Japan in 1919. The crystalline powder was soluble in water, making it easy for
candidates to inject them through their vanes (5)(1). During the WWII era, Kamikaze pilot
were given methamphetamine before their suicide mission in order to awake them at all
time (5). Later in the late 1950s, methamphetamine was prescribed to use as one of a
way to diet and flight depression. Suddenly, it have been spread resulting candidates
such as collage students, truck drivers and athletes to use as an non medical stimulant -
the medical finally spread and were officially considered to be illegal to all states in the
USA in 1970. Currently, Methamphetamine has occasional therapeutic use in the
treatment of narcolepsy and attention of deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Ice smokers may have carry out dental problems that eventually operates extraction of
all the teeth (1). A combination of reasons such as the dangerous and powerful
chemicals in the drug, poor diet, exhaustion and lack of saliva flow contribute to these
problems (1).

There is a long list of specific harm that frequently results from ice abuse, including:
- Kidney and lung disorders that can be fatal
- Brain damage
- Disorganised, chaotic, damaging lifestyle
- Permanent psychological problems
- Excessive weight loss
- Diminished social ability
- Lowered resistance to illness
- Liver disease
- Stroke
- Mental Harm
Recovering from meth addiction (ice)
Once all the drugs have been clear out of the body in either ways - usually 48 hours, the
candidates should seek the medical procedures ASAP by the doctors. The Narconon
program is what can help you to manage and kill your addictiveness to the drugs (1)(2).

Chemical Properties
- Methamphetamine or CAS-537-46-2 is a member of the Phenethylamine family, which
includes a scope of substances that may be stimulants, hallucinogens and
entactogens (4).
- According to emcdda.europa.eu suggests that, methamphetamine is N,-
dimethylphenethylamine (4).
- The full systematic name for Methamphetamine is N,-dimethylbenzeneethanamine.
- Methamphetamine molecular formular is C10H15N (4).
- Methamphetamine molecular weight is 149.237 g/mol (4).
- Methamphetamine is soluble in water (4)(3).

Physical Properties
Methamphetamine can be soluble in diethyl ether and ethanol as well as miscible with
chloroform. Whereas, methamphetamine hydrochloride salt is odourless with a bitter
taste. It has a melting point between 170 to 175 C (338 to 347 F) In a room
temperature the substance tends to occurs as white crystals or a white crystalline
powder (4).
