2017 CFNKLS AGM

The Community Fund of North Kootenay Lake Soci-
ety (CFNKLS) holds over $1,000,000 in endowed funds
generating substantial interest that is distributed as grants
to North Kootenay Lake registered charities. Available
funds for distribution in 2017 amounted to nearly $35,000
which will be distributed to successful applicants at the
Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 5 at 7 pm at
the Langham Theatre in Kaslo. In addition, 2016 grant
recipients will report on their successful projects and the
election of board members for 2017-2019 will take place.
CFNKLS is an affiliate fund of the Osprey Community
Foundation based in Nelson. Philanthropy is alive and
well in the Columbia Basin where every community is
served by a Community Foundation or an affiliated fund.

The retrofits will enhance the quality and sustainability Friday

targeting retrofits that will have a high return on invest-
ment to ensure significant financial benefit for non-profit

The Annual Rubber Ducky Raffle for Kaslos JV
Humphries graduating class took place on Monday, May
22 at 3 pm. Tickets were sold and hundreds of rubber
duckies were released from the Kaslo bridge in a race to
the end of the Kaslo River. The lucky winners were: 1st
Place Jason Weintz ($400); 2nd Place Benjamin Dal-
laire ($250); 3rd Place Albert Volpatti ($100).
The graduating class of 2017 had much support for this
fundraiser all the volunteers that helped set up, Cam
Wilson who dumped the ducks from the bridge as well
as Colette and Blair Enns, Osa Thatcher and all the other
boaters who collected the ducks.

public assent. The resulting
impact will be an increase to
the current parcel tax amount
of $248 by 421% for a total of
$1,292 per year for a five-year
period.

general voting on June 17 and
