REGULATION ORDINANCE NO. 2017-008

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF REGULATION
ORDINANCE NO. 2009-153 "AN ORDINANCE ON DIRECTIONAL
TRAFFIC PROHIBITIONS (LEFT TURN, ONE WAY, ETC.) FOR ALL
VEHICLES IN THE CITY OF /LO/LO AND PROVIDING PENALTIES
THEREOF"

WHEREAS, on March 25, 2009 the Sangguniang Panlungsod of lloilo Ci8ty

passed Regulation Ordinance No. 2009-153 "An Ordinance on directional traffic
prohibitions (left tum, one way, etc.) for all vehicles in the City of lloilo and providing
penalties thereof;

WHEREAS, Article Ill, Section 458 (5) of Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as
the Local Government Code of 1991, empowers the Sangguniang Panlungsod:

"v. To regulate the use of streets, avenues, alleys, sidewalks,

bridges, parks and other public places and approve the construction,
improvement, repair and maintenance of the same by privately owned
vehicles which seNe the public, regulate garages and the operations of
onveyances for hire, designated stands to be occupied by public vehicles
when not in use, regulate the putting of signs, sign posts, awning and

awning posts on streets; provide for the lighting, cleaning and sprinkling of
streets and public places.

vi. Regulate traffic on all streets"

WHEREAS, the Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office

{TMTRO) proposed for an additional directional traffic prohibition in the City Proper
District particularly the left turn from Muelle Loney/Montinola Street to F. Caram
Avenue/lznart Street.

NOW, THEREFORE, let it be ordained by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of lloilo

City in session assembled, that:

Section 1. - Section 1 (a) of Regulation Ordinance No. 2009-153, is hereby

amended to include an additional traffic prohibition in left turn:

"Muelle Loney!Montinola Street to F. Caram Avenue/lznart Street"

Section 2. - The Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office

(TMTRO) shall install traffic directional sign with the citation of the ordinance prohibiting
left tum in the said area;

Section 3. - Except for the above stated amendments, all other provisions of the
Regulation Ordinance shall remain in full force and effect;

Section 4. - The TMTRO and the federation of the different transport groups
shall be furnished a copy of this ordinance for their information and appropriate action;

Section 5 - A copy of the sketch of the proposes left turn prohibition in Muelle
Loney/Montinola Street to F. Caram Avenue/lznart Street is herein attached as an
integral part of this ordinance;

Section 5. - This ordinance shall take effect immediately after its publication in a
newspaper of general circulation in the City of lloilo.
