SUPPORT THE SSCT AND YOUR PARK! There are still lots of available dates for rental of the halls and R.V. spaces for
SSCT members. The SSCT membership voted to curtail rentals to non-member individuals and groups and attempt to return to
the intent of our charter and operate as a Swiss Park, so we need your support.
SCHWINGER PRACTICE will be held each Wednesday at 6:30 PM for Buebe and 7:00 PM for J unior s/Senior s. We

RV RESERVATIONS for the SSCT August Schwingfest can be made by calling J on Fischlin at 253-370-5250. A mini-
mum four (4) days reservation is required. Cost $15.00/day for SSCT members and $20.00/day for non-members

SNGERFEST 2017: The 29th Pacific Coast Swiss Singing and Yodeling Festival, hosted by the San Joaquin Valley Swiss
Echoes of Ripon, CA, will be held in Modesto, CA from June 22-25, 2017. The 28th Sngerfest which the Mnnerchor Edel-
weiss and the Swiss Sportsmen's club of Tacoma hosted in 2014 was very well supported by the Ripon club. Take advantage
of this outstanding Swiss cultural event. Information is available on the festival website, www.swisssongfest2017.com. Hope to

SATURDAY, JUNE 10, 2017, 9:00 AM: ALL TACOMA
SWISS CLUBS WORK PARTY. ALL HANDS ON
DECK call to all Tacoma Swiss Club members to join in
sprucing up the park after the winter season. Lunch will be
served after work is done.
SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 2017: SPRING SCHWINGFEST
sponsored by SSCT. Cost $10.00, including dance. Children
12 and under are free. Gate opens at 10:00 AM. Schwinger
registration starts at 11:00 AM, followed by competition at
noon. The bar opens at 10:45 AM, the kitchen from Noon to
8:00 PM. Dancing starts at 7:30 PM to Kapelle Blaser-Faver.
Schwinger Awards about 10:30 PM. Bar closes at 1:00 AM.
SUNDAY, JUNE 18, 2017, 10:00 AM: SSCT MEMBERS
SHOTGUN MEDAL SHOOT sponsor ed by SSCT. You
must be an SSCT or associated Swiss Club member to com-
pete for medals. There is no fee to enter the park. Medal
shoots are held in Class A, B, and C. To participate in the
Martin Holdener Memorial Buddy Shootyou choose your
partner who must be an immediate family member (i.e., Fa-
ther, Mother, Son, Daughter, 1st Cousin, or In-law). All
medals awarded are made in Switzerland.
19th ANNUAL KIDS SWISS KAMP: (KAMP IS FULL)
July 26-29, 2017. For children ages 8 to 14 inclusive.
Kamps purpose is to teach the culture and traditions of Swit-
zerland and learn about ethnic heritage. Kamp begins
Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. (please feed your child dinner
before arriving). Your child will stay overnight Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Classes are held all
day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. On
Sunday, at about 2:00 p.m., there is a parade and program to
celebrate Swiss Independence or Bundesfere. Your child
will participate in producing this celebration, and everyone is
invited to watch. PLEASE ENCOURAGE YOUR CHIL-
DREN IN THEIR LEARNING AND BRING YOUR EX-
TENDED FAMILY OUT FOR AN AFTERNOON OF
SWISS ENTERTAINMENT, FOOD AND FUN. Follow-
ing the program, the SRS will open the kitchen and the SSCT
will open the bar. There will be games to play for adults and
children. We supply all your childs entertainment needs!
We provide an adult for every five children and have trained
staff to assist with medical needs. If you want to help
please call Louise Hospenthal at 253-896-2593.
Your child needs ONLY bring the following items!
ABSOLUTELY NO HAIRDRYERS, CURLING IRONS,
AIR MATTRESSES, ELEC-

kitchen and bar will open following the
Kids Kamp program (about 3:00 p.m.).
There is no cost to enter the park, so come on up and enjoy a
wonderful afternoon AND encourage our Kids Kamp kids
(and the volunteers) and support SRS.
FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 2017: 26TH ANNUAL SSCT
GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Tacoma Swiss Golf Tour -
nament will be at High Cedars, Orting, WA. Please choose
either a shotgun start in the morning at 7:30
a.m. or the afternoon at Noon. Both sessions
are expected to sell out. Please register early.
Reservations are confirmed in the order pay-
ment is received. Range balls and a boxed
lunch is included at the course. Tournament
prizes are awarded to nine flights, with Swiss Bells for 1st
place in every flight. Putting and chipping contest at the
course. Dinner is provided at the awards ceremony, follow-
ing the afternoon session, at the Swiss Park (the bar will open
at 4:00 p.m.). Entry fee is inclusive of mulligans and all
course contests; Morning session $90. Afternoon session
$100. Sponsorships availableGold sponsor $200, Hole
sponsor $100. The registration and/or sponsorship applica-

SCHWINGFEST & DANCE sponsor ed by the
SSCT. Gates open at 8:00 AM. Individual ad-
mission is $15.00 (includes day and dance), chil-
dren 12 and under are free. Schwinger registra-
tion begins at 9:00 AM for Juniors and Seniors.
Steinstossen (men and women) follows Schwinging. The
kitchen is open at 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM. The bar closes
at 1:00 AM. Dancing begins at 8:30 PM. Schwinger Crowns
will be presented about 10:30 PM. Music at the Schwinger
Platz both Saturday and Sunday provided by Swiss Musi-
cians.
NOTE: A combination admission for Saturday/Sunday is
available on Saturday for $25.00 per person.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 13, 2017BUEBE SCHWINGFEST
& DANCE sponsored by the SSCT. Gate opens at 9:00
a.m., individual admission is $15.00. Children 12 and under
are free. Enjoy breakfast of French toast, eggs, ham, juice
and coffee for $6.00 per person served by the Enzian La-
dies Choir (ESLC) from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit
the ESLC, so please show your support. Outdoor mass be-
gins at 11:30 a.m. Following Mass, Buebe Schwingen begins
and the kitchen and bar will open. Buebe Schwinger awards
are presented at the Schwinger Platz following competition.
Plan to dance the whole evening!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, SSCT:
Dear members: Its with great pride and honor that I write to you
as your new President of the Swiss Sportsmens Club of Tacoma.
Our heritage is something we are all proud of and being a mem-
ber of our wonderful club is one way we express this. Keeping
this tradition alive is certainly a goal we all share as members.
With this I am very honored to be elected as your president.
You may recall at our October meeting the club voted over-
whelmingly to keep our non-profit status. Since then the board
has been working extremely hard to make this possible with the
resources available. As was discussed at the meeting, member
involvement is one of the primary pieces that will make this pos-
sible. Not just in the short term but over the long haul of our
club. As we get closer to our Spring and Fall Schwingfests,
please remember this by volunteering to help make this fantastic
traditional event, one that all members can enjoy. Even if you
have never volunteered before, just an hour of help can make a
huge difference. Volunteering can help spread the work so 10%
of the members dont do 90% of the work. Not to mention its
actually quite fun! Please call to get your name on a list. Anoth-
er way members can get involved is by attending our monthly
meetings. These meetings are held on the third Thursday of eve-
ry month at 7:00pm. Please plan on attending.
Also keep in mind, as SSCT members you can rent our facilities
including the halls (Main Hall, Alpenhus or Schutzenhus) and
grounds at a discounted rate. Rental income is a large part of our
club income and one that we hope will continue to grow. For hall
rental information, feel free to call our Parkmeister, Curt at 253-
862-1142.
