nowadays. In the simplest sense, the Internet is a huge encyclopedia of news,
knowledge, and nonsense. So, how has it been affecting us?

Internet in First World Countries

In the First World Countries, like Canada, the U.S.A, and almost all of Europe, the
Internet is something that has become a necessity. But, that doesn't mean that it is
something that is good for us. Here are some pros and cons of the Internet.
Pros

the globe.

using services like Skype .

o People can donate to various charities from their home, which removes
the need for charity workers to collect funds.

them are susceptible to hackers.
o This is not to mention the viruses and malware that you have the
potential of downloading.

Internet in Second World Countries

Second World Countries are misunderstood by the general population. Memes about
communism, stereotypes, and Kim Jong-un run rampant on the internet. News stories
about their crazy policies and decisions scare us all. But, how is their internet?

Internet in Third World Countries

The Internet has started to make its debut in countries such as Africa and India. It is
becoming an increasingly useful tool for people that want more out of their education
than they can get through traditional means. Here are some Pros and Cons of the
Internet in Third World countries.

Pros

1. There are Internet cafes in most cities (10)

o Internet cafes are more prevalent that in First World countries.
o This is attributed to the fact that people in First World countries can buy
their own Internet connection.
2. Websites like Khan Academy are providing education to those who need it
o The websites provide free education.
o They provide an opportunity to get a better education than their country's
system can provide.
3. Organizations like One Laptop Per Child are providing laptops so that children
can access the Internet
o They provide laptops for free.
o They have been able to help many children in various countries.

Cons

1. The Internet speed is painfully slow

o The speed is functional at best.
o It is similar to Internet speeds five years ago.

You might have noticed that there is only one con in the list directly above. This is
because there are many ongoing efforts to make access to the Internet possible in
Third World Countries, such as Flexgo .

So, let's discuss a problem that the Internet will likely always have and is common, no matter
where you are in the world.

Misinformation

The Internet is infamous for misinformation. This is because of the fundamental fact that the
Internet can't fact-check itself. This is definitely a problem when it comes to scientific
information, not to mention all the hoaxes, counterfeits, spam, and product sites you can run into.
So then, is the Internet dangerous? Obviously not, but it isn't safe either.
