Introduction
Being among those people, who feel like going out but
have no idea where to go, we would appreciate an
application that suggests places according to our mood,
and where preferably is not so crowded. Therefore we
came up with the idea of On the rocks metaphorically
representing our country island and its entertaining
venues.
Malta is a small island, blessed by approximately 280 days of
sunshine and beautiful weather throughout the year. Due to
the latter, a lot of foreigners travel and visit our island along
the year which gives Malta, one of the highest world tourism
ranking from across the globe.

Beautiful days also lead to long afternoons and nights, either

by the beach, enjoying a relaxing barbecue, or partying
around in different beach clubs or various other clubs
scattered along the island. Having said that, one can say
that Malta is known for its partying and night life. Yet, as small
as Malta is, everyone can recon of making plans to go to a
club, and naturally due to limited space, it'll be overcrowded
and let alone the big disappointment.

Our aim is to create an app for our fellow party people to

solve such disappointment by proudly presenting ..
On the Rocks. This app has several sections one can
explore, such as various help options where one will get
informed of the traffic flow in clubs. The app auto-refreshes
itself when one connects to the venue's WiFi or simply by
posting a photo on the app's social interactions and tags the
venue. There are also other sections with various lists of
different hangout places whether it's a club, drink & dine
joints or chill-out places, this will be helpful whenever one is
out of ideas as well as a guide for tourists which are first time
visitors who would want to explore different
parts of the island.

This app can be downloaded by everyone above the age

of 16 (although the Island's legal age to consume alcohol is
18, one can still attend to other festivals and/or beach
clubs). It's a must for tourists, and locals, to download this
app for assistance in exploring the island, and also post
reviews which serve as a free bonus for Malta's advertising in
tourism. Speaking of which, this app can also be further
resourceful for the Malta Tourism Authorities and other
Tourism departments on the island such as
Air Malta and so on.
functionalities
Briefly, this application will allow the user to search for venues
and get informed about its traffic flow; people and vehicles,
news and updates. The venues are divided in three:
Alcohall, Kinchin and Chilled, together with the other
menu options; Mugshots, Siders, Seek and the glorious
Panic button.

Alcohall

Here, one could find the list of bars and clubs in Malta where
one can go drink their problems. Apart from being notified of
how many people have checked into the venue via this
app, and some general information about the venue, one
can also learn about the nearest car parks and the highest
rate per day. This application will be found useful also by
those who are not drivers yet, too, by alerting the user of the
nearest bus stops or transport stands being cab, minibus, or
any other type of transport service. Every venue has a rating
according to the users input, as well as mugshots, either
uploaded by the user or by the venues management.

Kinchin

Similar to the Alcohall section, the Kinchin gives the same

information yet on wine and dines, restaurants that switch to
clubs at a certain hour or fast food restaurants that serve
best as a hangover cure. In addition to the Alcohalls
features, the Kinchin also gives the option to view menus,
and the ratings are divided on the venue itself, the food, the
service and an overall rating.
Chilled

There are some bars and restaurants that also serve food
and drinks, yet they are more considered as chill-out areas,
where there is not so much chaos and one can go there to
relax and socialize with their friends. The application covers
these chill-out areas as well, also with the information about
car parks, transport stands, ratings and mugshots.

On the other hand, some people like to chill by the beach

while enjoying a barbecue among their friends.
Unfortunately, not all beaches allow barbecues or hold trash
cans for barbecue waste. This app would pin point these
factors and the user can also apply for council permission
directly from this app.

Mugshots

Many photos on the web are taken in the previously

mentioned venues, and mostly their description includes a
hash tag with their name, contains the venues logo or the
location is attached to the photo. Therefore, photos with
such tags are listed in the mugshots under the venues
profile. One can also take a photo via this application,
where the logo of the venue detected by GPS, is attached
on the bottom right corner and uploaded to the app. The
user can also choose to save or share the photo to any type
of social media.

Siders

The Siders will inform the user with any events planned
whether they are music events, festivals, holiday occasions
or any sort of event that might interest the user to attend, as
well as any change in venues i.e. closedowns,
refurbishments, change in management etc. Any news
happening in such venues or about the venues can also be
found under this section as well as any special offers
or vouchers.
Seek

One can seek for a venue in two ways, either by name or by

mood. Apart from the search bar, the Seek section will hold
different moods (similar to Spotify) that suggests the user of
venues corresponding to their mood example: Dining, Beer
and Chill, Sundaze, Dress up to Mess up, Beach front, Green,
Hangover Cure, High class, Hoodies and Sweatpants etc

Panic button

As we all know, it is far more than easy to get drunk at cer-

tain places. This application strictly promotes against drinking
and driving therefore we have created this panic button to
use in any case of emergency where the user needs to get
picked up as soon as possible from being drunk to being
followed or assaulted.

In the application settings, the user can choose their most

trusted cab company, although if there are more than 200
users enlisted under a certain company, their name will be
disabled. When the panic button is pressed the user is asked
for confirmation and upon confirmation the cab company
receives an alert with the users location. This section needs
to be synced with a valid PayPal account, where the user is
committing to buy the companies service yet can choose to
pay upon safe arrival. If the user does not pay in maximum
30 days, the cab company has every right to sue the user so
be careful before hitting the panic button.

Sidebar menu

Just like every other menu, this applications menu will hold
the previously mentioned functionalities, together with infor-
mation about the app, options to change username and
switch on GPS, settings and a contact admin button.
