A N ACT TO PROVTDE FOR THE CONTROL OF THE SALE OF

TIMBER AND ESTABLISHMENT OF S L E DEPOTS FOR SUCH
TIMBER IN 3[EtARYANAJ '

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the control of the sale of

timber and the establishment of sale depots for such timber in
"Haryana] ;
It is hereby enacted as follows :-
1. This Act may be called the Punjab Forest (Sale ofTimba) Short title,artmt
Act, 1913. and mmmence-
ment

(SALE OF TIMBER)
Government may by notification in the '[Official Gazette] direct ; .
and it shall come into force in each of such areas on such day as the
State Governmat in like manner GG-ects in this behalf.

"It shall extend to the transferred territories and shall come

into force therein on the 15th May, 1958.1

Such rules may among other matters -

(n) p r e s c n i the classes of timber to which the mles shall

apply ;
(b) defme what shall be deemed to be a sale depot; I '

(c) provide for the establishment, registration, regulation and

inspection of sale depots, and the levy of fees for
regisbation ;prescn'be the period for which registration
shall hold good and the conditions under which timber
m y be brought to, stored at, sold at, and removed from
sale depots ; and pro~bitthe sale of timber at, or the
establishment ox maintenance of, unregistered sale depots ;

(d) regulate the use of sale depot marks and the registeration
~f such ~ ~ ~;prescribe

made under this section, imprisoameut which ma.i extend
to six months or fine which may extend to Rs: 500 or
both. Double penalties may be h7icted where the o%ce
is commjtted after sunset and before sunrise, or after

offender has been previously convicted of a like oKence.
(2) All rules made under sub-section (1) s h d be so made
after previous publication in the '[Official Gazette].
4. The p~~uvisions or Chapter X of the ~ndianForest Act, Application of
I 878, with the exception of section shall apply so far as may be to Chapter of
any infringement of ibe rules made under this Act as ir such Jndim Form
