Engineer Elijah Palileo measured the weight of 30 pieces 4 liters of Elastomeric

Waterproofing Paint. The resulting data(in grams) were:

5250 5100 5300 4950 5100 5200

5500 4900 4700 5000 5000 5200

5150 4750 4800 4850 4900 4925

4925 5000 4950 5300 5200 5150

5200 5150 4950 5050 5025 4950

Elijah hypothesized that the mean of the weight of all 4 liter of Elastomeric
Waterproofing Paint is equal to 5000 grams. Is there enough evidence to support
the engineers claim at = 0.05? Assume = 176.23. Use traditional method. ( For
a and b)

Elijah claims that 60 of all 4 liter of Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint has a mean
weight equal to 5000 grams. He randomly selected 30 paints and found that 19
paints has a mean weight equal to 5000 grams. At = 0.05, is there enough
evidence to accept the engineers claim? Use TM. (For c)

X = 5047.5

s = 179.24
a) Z Test
Step 1 : State the hypotheses and identify the claim.

H 0 : =5000 g ( claim ) H 1 : 5000 g

Step 2 : Find the critical value.

= 0.05 and the test is a two-tailed test

The critical value is z= 1.96

Step 3 : Compute for the test value.

X 5047.55000
z= = =1.47
/ n 176.23 / 30

Step 4. Make the decision.

Accept the null hypothesis, since the test value falls in the noncritical region.
H 0 : =5000 g ( claim ) H 1 : 5000 g

Step 5: Summarize the results.

There is enough evidence to support the claim that the average mean of the
weight of a 4 liter of Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint is equal to 5000 grams.
b) T Test

Step 1 : State the hypotheses and identify the claim.

H 0 : =5000 g ( claim ) H 1 : 5000 g

Step 2 : Find the critical value.

For = 0.05 and d.f. = 29, two-tailed

The critical t values are 2.045 and 2.045

Step 3 : Compute for the test value.

X 5047.55000
z= = =1.45
s/ n 179.24 / 30

Step 4. Make the decision.

Accept the null hypothesis, since 1.45 falls in the noncritical region.
H 0 : =5000 g ( claim ) H 1 : 5000 g

Step 5: Summarize the results.

There is enough evidence to support the claim that the average mean of the
weight of a 4 liter of Elastomeric Waterproofing Paint is equal to 5000 grams.

c) Proportion.

Step 1 : State the hypotheses and identify the claim.

H 0 : =0.60 ( claim )H 1 : 0.60

Step 2 : Find the critical value.

= 0.05 and the test is a two-tailed test

The critical value is z= 1.96
