Newspapersexpandthecurriculumwithanunlimitedamountofinformationtouseasbackgroundfor
learningactivities.Discovernewwaystousethenewspaperinyourlanguageartsstudies,withthese

Newsdevelopseveryday.Thebeautyofthenewspaperintheclassroomisthatitisalsofresheachday.It
comestoyouwiththelatestnewsandinformationand,unlikeothermedia,comesbeautifullywrittenwith
lotsofdetail.Storiesunfoldasreportersunearthmoreinformationtoreconstructwhathappened.Thereis
trulynobetterrecordoftheworld'shappeningsthananewspaper.

Forteachersthenewspaperoffersaspecialattraction.Ithasbeencalledthelivingtextbookanditlivesupto
thatname.Thenewspapercanbeusedtoenhanceskillsinreading,writing,listening,speaking,math,social
studiesandscience.Criticalthinkingisthenaturaloutgrowthofusinganewspapertolearn.Unlike
textbooks,whichareseveralyearsoutdatedbythetimetheygetintostudents'hands,thenewspapercomes
