INTRODUCTION
Albeit less effective than transport by railroads and conduits, transport by parkways is the most
widely recognized mean of transportation in Brazil. Also, similar to the next two, freight
transport by thruways is essentially in view of the utilization of diesel. Using bio-powers as a
contrasting option to diesel began in the 1970s, amid the oil emergency. A few research
endeavors had concentrated on concentrate the generation of crude material based energizes,
started from plants, which could be another option to diesel. It was in this setting the experience
of transesterification was conceived in Brazil (ANP, 2009). Notwithstanding, around then need
was given to the program for improvement of ethanol (Proa'lcool program), whose movement
crest occurred in mid- 1980s. To reinforce nation's vitality autonomy, the utilization of trans
esterified vegetable and creature oils as fuel is being presented on an extensive scale just these
days (Anastapoulo, 2001).

Biodiesel can be utilized alone or blended with diesel, in any extent, in an awesome assortment
of utilizations. Among these, one can specify little thermoelectric power plants, arranged in areas
exceptionally removed from business circuits, a case where extensive volumes of fuel are vital
and where the unadulterated biodiesel can be effortlessly utilized.

Since this sort of fuel is perfect, it conveys incredible advantage to the condition. The discharge
of CO2, one of the primary reasons for the nursery impact, is decreased by 7 percent for B5 (5
percent biodiesel and 95 percent of diesel), 9 percent for B20 and 46 percent on account of
unadulterated biodiesel (ANP, 2009).

Emanations of residue and particulate materials are decreased up to 68 percent with the
utilization of biodiesel, and there is a decay of 36 percent of unburnt hydrocarbons. Additionally
there is an to a great degree critical decrease in sulfur gasses that cause corrosive rain, that is, 17
percent for B5, 25 percent for B20 and 100 percent for unadulterated biodiesel, since, dissimilar
to diesel oil, biodiesel does not contain sulfur (ANP, 2009).

Concerning favorable circumstances brought by biodiesel one can refer to the diminishment of
oil refined diesel imports. Agreeing to Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy, Brazil spent
US$4.9 billion, with diesel import in 2008, and the utilization of biodiesel in Brazil kept the
importation of 1.1 billion liters of diesel, making a residential economy of $976 million. With the
presentation of B5, imports of refined diesel will be diminished by 33 percent. The work of B5
biodiesel ought to lift residential financial action and animate the formation of new businesses. It
will likewise advance era of around 200,000 employments, and significantly increment the
region development (ANP, 2009).

The generation of biodiesel added up to 1,163 million of cubic meters from January to December
2008, an expansion of 190 percent contrasted with 2007, when the nation created 402,000 cubic
meters. The viable interest for biodiesel in 2008 was of 1.1 million cubic meters.

Then again, with the wide work of biodiesel,it ends up plainly important to concentrate
subsequent impacts of its utilization ininternal burning motors. A dishonorably greased up motor
may experience the ill effects of exorbitant warmth, wear and commotion, and will regularly
come up short if the issue is not fathomed. After adding a greasing up liquid to a motor, the very
operation of that motor starts to affect on the usefulness of the oil. A case of this is the corruption
of greasing up oil by the nearness of fuel contaminants, for example, biodiesel.

Subsequently, ponders on tribological issues created by ointment sullying in biodiesel must be

executed to approve the different biodiesel energizes that are being delivered, before their
dispersion to the market (Shumacher et al., 2001; Agarwal et al., 2003; Rakopoulos, 2006).
Vibration and oil examination are two extremely valuable methods for those reasons, as revealed
in Goncalves et al. (2007) and Maru et al. (2005). In the last work, writers demonstrated that
vibration examination, could demonstrate that molecule estimate and the grouping of strong
contaminant influence the dynamical reaction of the bearing in the low recurrence extend.

As a general rule, any sort of oil debasement (strong, fluid, and concoction) can possibly change
the way of surface (in relative movement) associations. Since oil corruption advances
mechanical collaboration of surface severities, which is a known reason for expanding grinding,
wear and, thusly, vibration; vibration observing has been utilized as a device for recognizing
grease debasement (Girdhar and Scheffer, 2004; Almeida and Padovese, 2003). The present
work adds to this subject by attempting to recognize issues identified with some conceivable
ointment tainting by biodiesel, through vibration examination of a moving bearing, greased up
with car oils defiled with biodiesel. It is demonstrated that the utilization of conventional
vibration parameters is insufficient to describe the impact of defilement in the vibrational
conduct of direction. Then again, it is additionally demonstrated that identifying and describing
this impact is impeccably conceivable with the neural system strategy (Maru et al., 2007a, b).

PROBABILISTIC NEUTRAL NETWORK

The nonlinear properties of neural systems have made them fruitful for machine blame
demonstrative applications. In this work, the probabilistic neural system (PNN) was utilized for
location of pollution.

Actually, the PNN is not a genuinely neural system worldview, but rather an adjustment of the
factual Bayesian choice administer to the neural system formalism (Chtioui et al., 1997, 1998).

Four layers create the PNN engineering. The first, the info layer, has its measurement managed
by the measurement (N) of the information vector. The second, the example layer, has the
measurement (N*K) of the quantity of cases in the preparation set, while the third one, a
summation layer, has the measurement (K) equivalent to the quantity of classes in the
arrangement of the cases. At last, the design has one yield or choice layer. A case of a PNN
design is appeared in Figure 1.

The quantity of layers and the quantity of hubs for each layer are inflexibly settled and are
characterized by the preparation set measurement.

At the point when an info vector of measurement N is introduced to the system, the information
layer exchanges these N qualities to all the example layer hubs. The separation between the
information vector and the objective vector, that speaks to every one of the K classes of the
example layer, is then figured (for example, by an Euclidean standard). After this strategy, an
exchange capacity is utilized to change the esteem ascertained at every one of the example layer
hubs. The Parzen's likelihood thickness function (PDF) estimator, with a Gaussian kernel
function, is the transfer function most widely used. It is proved that the estimated PDF of a
population converges to the actual PDF as this population increase, independently of the
population presenting a normal distribution or not (Chtioui et al., 1997; Vicino, 1998).

The transfer function of the pattern layer is given by

Where P {j, v} is the likelihood that case v has a place with class j. The PNN has just a single
parameter to be evaluated, the smoothing parameters, and the misclassification rate is essentially
reliant on the estimation of this smoothing parameter. Distinctive estimations of give diverse
rate of misclassification when a test set is displayed to a PNN. Thusly, the ideal estimation of s
should be evaluated by methods for an improvement calculation or by experimentation
methodology.

EXPERIMENTAL METHODOLOGY
Three types of commercial automotive lubricants were used in the experiment. Their properties
are shown in Table I.
Biodiesel of animal (fat) origin, transesterified with methanol, with viscosity of 5.36 cSt, was
used as contaminant. Since, in an internal combustion engine, the fuel contamination in a
lubricant (L) is normal up to 5 percent, it was used three levels of concentration (P) of biodiesel:
0, 3 and 5 percent, in volume.
Therefore, the contamination procedure gives rise to nine viscosity grades as shown in Table II.
The ball bearings used in tests were of type 6205, with internal diameter of 25mm, external
diameter of 52mm and width of 15mm. Figure 2 shows the experimental bench. The tested ball
bearing was vertically loaded and oil bath lubricated. Radial
load was applied to the tested bearing through a lever and a load cell with a screw system.
A system with pulleys transmitted power from an electric motor to the bearing shaft. Two ball
bearings were used to support the shaft. A frequency inverter controlled the shaft speed.
Two piezoelectric accelerometers attached to the bearing housing measured the bearing radial
vibration, one at the vertical position (PCB 353 B2, 0-7 kHz useful range, sensitivity of 2.04
mV/(m/s2) with an ICP sensor signal conditioner model 480 E9) and other in the horizontal
position (PCB 603 C1 0-10 kHz useful range, sensitivity of 10.2 mV/m/s2 with the ICP sensor
signal conditioner model 482 A22).
The measured signal was amplified and filtered with a low band pass filter at a cutoff frequency
of 7 kHz. The signal was then acquired through an acquisition board at sampling rate of 20 kHz.
In the tests, each acquired signal was composed by 200,000 data points, corresponding to 10 s
acquisition time. The applied load was set to 800N and the shaft speed to 35 Hz. The vibrations
signals were acquired after stabilization of the oil bath temperature. For each lubrication
condition ten signals were acquired.
SIGNAL PROCESSING METHOD & PNN TRAINING STRATEGY
The gathered signs were investigated by two fundamental flag preparing strategies, the power
unearthly thickness (PSD), based on the Welch change technique (Proakis and Manolakis,
1996), and the vitality of flag (Es) procedure.
For the PSD, a ghostly determination of 1 Hz was utilized, for each flag range. In the second
technique, the Es was dictated by the necessary of abundancy squares of signs, band pass
separated in three recurrence groups 0-40 Hz (near shaft speed), 40 Hz-180 Hz (near five times
the pole speed) and 180 Hz-5 kHz. The Es parameter is figured as the normal of 20 qualities.
With a specific end goal to prepare the PNN to arrange a specific arrangement of designs, an
information base, made by PSD vectors out of the 80 percent of the aggregate (240 PSD vectors)
vibration flag, was utilized while the rest of the 20 percent were utilized to test the prepared
PNN. Each info vector is the normal of 5 PSD vectors, with 3 Hz of ghastly determination,
having 2,049 focuses.
Two preparing techniques were utilized. In the first, the PNN was prepared so as to characterize
two classes of examples: non-tainted grease and debased ointment. This last class was formed by
both grease tainted gatherings: with 3 percent and with 5 percent of tainting. In the second
methodology, the PNN was prepared to order three example classes: non-sullied, tainted with 3
and with 5 percent of biodiesel. In both preparing techniques, the three interims of PSD groups
(as said above), were independently utilized as info vectors, with a specific end goal to explore
the instructive importance of each recurrence band.

RESULT & DISCUSSION

Figures 3 and 4 demonstrate the PSD in recurrence groups of 0-1 kHz, and of 1-5 kHz,
separately, for vibration measured in the vertical bearing, for the three ointment sorts and three
instances of tainting.

By looking at the otherworldly conduct of the three ointments, without tainting, in both
recurrence groups, one can watch that it is impractical to distinguish critical contrasts among
them. Essentially, by investigating the impact of sullying evaluation for each kind of ointment, it
is as yet hard to recognize any distinction in the vibration conduct.

Figure 5 demonstrates the Es parameter for three recurrence groups, for all oils and defilement
grades. One can take note of that is impractical to distinguish any connection between thickness
or defilement cases and vibration vitality, in any of the three recurrence groups.

So also, by the ghostly examination method or by the vitality parameter, it is impractical to

discover any data about defilement or consistency properties in vibration signals. Now, an
essential question is: do vibration signals contain data in regards to defilement and thickness or
the conventional flag handling sign are not satisfactory to dissect this issue?

With a specific end goal to clear up this subject, the refered to PNN was utilized. As said in
Section 4, two preparing methodologies were utilized. At the point when the PNN was prepared
to distinguish non debased classes from defiled ones, the neural framework could order 100
percent of all the tried examples, for all the three recurrence groups. Accordingly, there is data
on the vibration flag with respect to defilement impact. Next, another PNN was produced and
prepared keeping in mind the end goal to group the three tainting cases: 0, 3, and 5 percent.
Table III presents, in rate of insights, the accomplishment of order, when 40 test input vectors,
speaking to the three tainting cases, were introduced to the PNN.

As a rule, the rate of PNN characterization achievement is extremely great. This implies
vibration signals do have noteworthy instructive substance identified with sullying impact,
regardless of the possibility that it is not discerning by customary vibration investigation
techniques.

Moreover, it can be seen that the impact of defilement is generally appropriated along the
recurrence band, in spite of the fact that it is all the more feebly present in high recurrence
extend, for the most part for the grease with the least consistency esteem. Concerning measuring
vibration course, it appears that there is not critical distinctive amongst vertical and even
methods for measuring.

CONCLUSION

The outcomes have demonstrated that oil sullying by bio diesel has affect on the vibration
conduct of greased up parts.
It was likewise demonstrated that established flag investigation strategies couldn't uncover any
connection between the flag and the nearness of tainting, or pollution review. On other hand, the
utilization of PNN was exceptionally effective in the ID and grouping of tainting and its review.
Indeed, it was conceivable to identify non-sullied and tainted cases with 100 percent of
accomplishment in every one of the tests.

It was additionally conceivable to arrange the three sullying grade cases with 100 percent of
accomplishment, primarily in a recurrence band of 0 Hz to five times the pole speed. As it were,
tainting data is introduced in the vibration flag, regardless of the possibility that it is not apparent
by traditional vibration investigation. Furthermore, the utilization of PNN gives a generally
straightforward and simple to-utilize identification apparatus with great certainty. The
preparation procedure is quick, and permits execution of a versatile preparing calculation.
