The environment alteration or contamination of any material or environment by inorganic or

organic agents (discharges, wastes, etc.) or bacteria, resulting from various human,
productive or permanent activities.

There are a great many environmental problems that affect every aspect of our earth. Possibly
the most important and well known among them are acid rain, air pollution and smog, water
pollution, global warming and depletion of the ozone layer.
Each environmental problem has numerous causes and a myriad of dangerous effects, but
fortunately each problem has a possible solution.
Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earths near
surface air and oceans. It is also known as the greenhouse effects.

The most common gas is carbon dioxide, accounting for about 50% of all greenhouse
gases. Global worming could also lead to drastic climate changes with, for example,
storms being more devastating and droughts being more prolonged.

To combat global worming there is The Kyoto Protocol, that is an International

Convention on Climate Change with the objective of reducing greenhouse gases that
cause climate change.
It can be defined as atmospheric pollution such as the presence in the Earth's
atmosphere, propagating in the atmosphere,of all the physical, chemical and
biological agents modifying the natural atmospheric characteristics, which can cause
a detrimental effect on living beings and the environment .

The main pollutants are: oxides of nitrogen, sulfur oxides, and carbon; Volatile
organic compounds and in particular mono, ozone, free radicals, lead and other so-
called heavy metals, particulate matter.

Pollutants play a role in many pathologies. As for the most polluted atmospheric
pollution, the pulmonary, cardiovascular and immune systems are among the many:
tumors, immune system disorders, allergies, asthma .
Water pollution is any chemical, physical or biological change in the quality of water that
has a harmful effect on anyone who drinks or uses or lives in it. Water pollution is caused
by multiple and specific factors: discharges of industrial and agricultural activities and the
usual human activities that arrive in rivers, lakes and seas.
The type of water pollution can be of a chemical, physical or microbiological nature,
and the consequences can endanger the health of the flora and fauna involved, up to
humans, harming the ecosystem and water supplies for food use.

There are two main ways through which the pollutants reach the water, directly and indirectly.

Direct pollution occurs when in watercourses, pollutants are discharged without any
purification treatment.
The indirect way, however, occurs when the pollutants arrive in the waterways through air
and soil.
Sour rain is the result of a high level of atmospheric pollution. When the oxygen and water
vapor naturally present in the atmosphere are mixed with the smog created by industrial
pollutants with the addition of the exhaust gases of cars, here is the acid rain.
Acid rain caused damages ever that are living than the environment.
They die suffocated by our waste. Birds, fish, whales, turtles: One and a half million
animals every year are victims of plastic waste discharged into the oceans.

"Every year, 1.5 million animals are killed by plastic," says the guest scientist at the
French ". Presented on this occasion, IRD's study speaks of a truly "seventh
continent". Several floating "islands" made of waste, moving dinghy over the Pacific,
Atlantic and Indian Ocean.

The first time in 1997, it's just in this ocean, between the coasts of California and
Hawaii, which is the largest of the "islands" of waste. Since then, its size has tripled,
reaching 3.5 million square kilometers, seven times in France.
Plants are among the most endangered organisms because of pollution. In
particular, they are very sensitive to gramineae (important for nutrition), tobacco,
herb, and chamois. There were also significant adverse effects on tall trees such as
white spruce from the seventies, spruce, pine and beech and chestnut, rate, walnut,
willow, maple, cherry and ash. Among the effects of pollution there are those caused
by ozone, whose typical damage to plants is small necrotic dots of color, ranging
from white to black. Finally, other very harmful factors for plants are acid rain.
Turn off equipment like television and computers when not in use
Print documents on both sides of recycled paper
Take your own bags to the supermarket
Look for products that have less packaging
Walk or use a bike whenever you can
Use public transport rather than the car as often as possible
Never take plants or pick flowers from anywhere in the wild
Leave an area to grow wild and free
Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
Have a shower and not a bath
