correct form.

Speaking aim: By the end of the lesson students will be able to describe historical events by using correct grammar
structures.

Time Activity/Skill Prodecure

Pre speaking activities Teacher will divide the group into 6 groups, each of them 4
people. Teacher will give them an envelope with a question
that is cut into parts. Ss will organize it. The question is
related to some past events.
Warm up

Organizing sentences

Pre speaking activities Teacher will ask students a set of questions such as:
1. Which significant historical events have taken

place during your lifetime?

2. How did these events affect you?

Wh/yes/no Questions

Pre speaking activities Introduce the present perfect grammar structure, the use of
the auxiliary have has and the verb in the past participle
form using a power point presentation.

To explain very carefully the present perfect use.

Teacher will show to students as an example of a historical


event.

Today is september 11th, 2001. There has been an attack on


the twin towers in New York City. The first plane has flown
into the north tower, and the second plane has flown into the

south tower. People have been running and screaming away
from lower Manhattan. Some people have jumped out of the
windows of the towers. We have heard that other planes have
crashed into the Pentagon and a field in Pennsylvania. Some
people have said that the attacks were done by muslim
terrorists. Firefighters and police have already arrived to the
site in New York. But within 30 minutes both towers have
fallen and almost 3,000 people have died. All flights have
been cancelled and America has been placed under a state of
emergency. Today has been the worst terrorist attack in
history for the United States.

After the presentation the students will see a video to be


clearer about what the reading is about

The teacher introduces the following common expressions


used in present perfect:

- For
- Already
- Yet
- Just

Explain the meaning of each phrase and leads some


pronunciation practice exercises.
On line exercise - To reinforce the grammar aspects students will
solve some online exercises in which they fill in
the blanks with the correct auxiliary and verbs.
- The students should complete the biography of this
actor using present perfect where it is necessary.

Speaking Stage

- The students will see a video and complete with


the correct verb according to the image. They must
guess which is the correct verb. The name of the
video is GAME Have you ever.

After the students have clear the use of the perfect present,
the grammatical structure and the example that the teacher
gives them. In pairs students should choose an important
historical event and follow the same process as the teacher.
They design a power point presentation using images and
videos where they can demonstrate what have learned.

For the final presentation the students should use the


technological tools that the classroom has: Internet
connection, laptop, smart TV.
