Racial profiling

A key part in racial profiling in Americas history is police vs black men and women, Throughout

American history racial profiling can be seen though prison population, deaths of innocent people and the

words from a current presidential candidate. Throughout Americas history there has always been the presence

of racism and it holds true to even this day when it is illegal to keep someone away from something just based

on their race or gender. Racial profiling is just another way to segregate and control people of color.

Over the years, prison populations have grown at an alarming rate. According to an The Bureau of

Justice Statistics ,Approximately 1213% of the American population is African-American, but they make up

35% of jail inmates,(U.S department of Justice). This shows just how bad the prison population is, not only

that but it also shows just how much of that population is African American. This is relevant because it shows

how Cops use power to arrest these people for minor crimes then they get sent away to prison for something as

minor as a disturbance call. Other than Prison population, deaths of innocent people can be seen as an example

of racial profiling.

Losing a loved one is hard and takes time to adjust to, but when that loved one is shot and killed though

innocent it becomes harder to bear. An example of this would be when two innocent people were accidently

shot and killed when police were responding to a call. Megan Crepeau, Jeremy Gorner and Grace Wong all

state, Police responding to a call about a domestic disturbance shot and killed a 19-year-old engineering

student and a 55-year-old mother of five, and authorities acknowledged late Saturday that the woman had been

shot by accident(par. 1). This shows Racial profiling at its high point and how the police got away with

murder with just an apology. If this was a civilian who shot and killed a person they'd get years in prison to life

if found guilty, but when the police do it they get away with an apology and move on with their jobs.

It was believed to be that Presidential candidate Donald Trump said he supported Racial profiling

according to a report from CNN. These reports were found to be untrue and falsely quoted. However there is a

clear presence of violence at Trump rallies that can be seen as racist and revolting. According to Nika Knight,

staff writer for Common dreams, Over the course of several minutes, Trump supportersalternately jubilant

and enragedare shown spewing racist, homophobic, and sexist slurs, sucker-punching protesters, and

displaying a worshipful attitude toward Trump that reminds viewers why his candidacy has been provoking

comparisons to 1930s Germany(Par. 3). This means that Trumps supporters are saying racist remarks that can

lead to violence. This is relevant because it shows just how bad the Rallies can get out of control because the

supporters take Trumps words and use that as a crutch to make racist and sexist comments most of the time

leading more towards racist. This shows that Trump rallies lead to violence based on race and is a great modern

example of racial profiling.

In conclusion, America is notorious for Racial discrimination, and it can be found though many

events. Prison population, deaths of innocent citizens, and presidential candidates are all examples of it.

This is can be seen through statistics of prison population, deaths of a nineteen and fifty-five year old ,

and finally Trump rallies. This is all relevent because all of it is modern day events that people are

living with and experiencing. After researching the topic it is relevant that Racial profiling and Racism

in general are two practices that should be abandoned and left in history.
