Illegal Immigrants in the US

Why should we create a pathway to U.S citizenship for the illegal immigrants? There are

an estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S which can cause security concerns

to our people (kiefer). For the safety of our people, we should have a pathway to citizenship for

the illegal immigrants.

Some people argue that there should not be citizenship for the illegal immigrants because

they broke the federal immigration law. However, it is true that immigrants pay taxes, comply the

law, and work in the food productions to produce food for our people (kiefer). Although America

was founded by immigrants, we still need to follow the federal immigration laws.

The first reason we should let the refugees become US citizen is that Immigrants help the

economy and strengthens our families. Hillary Clinton, former secretary of state, said in an

article, America needs comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to citizenship for the

illegal immigrants because it strengthens our families, our economy, and our national

security(kiefer). For example, if those illegal immigrants are not registered, and they commit

crime, it will be very hard for the investigators to chase them down. Because of this, we should

register the undocumented refugees and create road to citizenship.

Also immigrants are part of our community so we should give them pathway to become

U.S citizen. Bernie Sanders, US senator says that, it is no great secret that illegal immigrants

play a big role in our economy, without them, food production in the US would decline.
Undocumented workers build many of our homes, cook our meals, and maintain our landscape

(ProCon). If we sweep up those hard workers our economy would banish, and we will be missing

a big part of our economic source. Since they are important for our community, we should create

a reasonable path to citizenship for them.

The last reason is that It is important to strengthen our borders and our national security.

(AJC former American jewish committee) stated that there are an estimated 11 million

undocumented immigrants in the US so allowing legal status for these refugees, will strengthen

our national security (kiefer). This will make the illegal immigrants feel that they are part of our

country and not commit a crime as they would if they were not registered. We should allow the

refugees for legal status because it secures our national security.

To sum up, while the immigrants broke the laws, it is not fair to say that we should not

give them a citizenship, because they help our economy grow, and they produce food for our

people. In addition to that, immigrants pay taxes and comply to the laws in the US, and they

should have pathway to become US citizens. In my opinion, those hard working people should

be rewarded with citizenship. We should not west our time discussing whether we should let

them become US citizens or be deported.
