Motion to Establish and Formalize the

Past District Leaders Group

Background: The Toastmasters programme focuses on the development of

communication and leadership skills. One of the tools promoted
by Toastmasters International is a strong mentorship programme.
Yet District 81 Trios do not have a formalized group of past district
leaders to whom they could turn for guidance or to lead on special
projects.

Toastmasters International has several avenues where past

international officers may continue to contribute to the work of
current officers, or may even serve as mentors/resource persons.
For example, the Toastmasters Pathways Programme is being led
by Past International President Pat Johnson.

The D 81 past district leaders group would be open to all past

Governors (Council, District), past District Directors, past Region
Advisors and past International Directors.

At the May 2012 Conference, the membership voted for such a

group to be established.

Motion: I move that a small committee of past district leaders be set up to

determine how the larger group would interface with the D81 Trio.
Guidelines and suggestions for special projects would be part of
the report from this small group.
