RE: Outdoor Kitchen Design for Space 4 Art Permanent Housing Project

Dear Mr. Bob Leathers,

Team 20/20 Vision is pleased to present this proposal for consideration and your review for the outdoor kitchen. We are
looking forward to gain more feedback and insights to help us improve our design.

During the last two months, we had the privilege to choose a space to design for your community. We had chosen the
outdoor kitchen. During that week, we were assigned to brainstorm ideas for the kitchens design. After we had done this,
we got feedback from an artist named Craig. He had explained that outdoor kitchens are spaces used for comfort, and
dining. Once we created a design, we learned how to use the building program called SketchUp, create Floor Plans, and
make a 3D model of the kitchen.

Our purpose for the outdoor kitchen is to have a space where the artist can come have a meal, picnic, or gathering. We
also want the kitchen to be used for events. We would love to have people eat there who arent in Space 4 Arts
Community to experience something new. We also want Space 4 Art's community to be able to come together, have a
meal, and bounce ideas off of each other to help support one and other.

In order to get the funds we need for building the space, we are going to hold a fundraiser. The January 21st fundraiser is
an event at Space 4 Art which will be holding silent auctions, raffles, and selling artwork. We will be applying for the
Lowes Toolbox Grant, to gain the funds we need. A creative idea for a fundraiser we created was selling 20/20 vision
merchandise, including shirts, hoodies, bracelets, hats, stickers, and pins. All the money we have gained will go to the
design spaces. Another creative idea we have is holding a recycling drive.

We appreciate the opportunity of working with you and Space 4 Art. We also look forward to hearing your feedback on
our current design. Please contact us via email for questions and concerns: iflower2020@hightechhigh.org ,

Thank you,

Mission Statement

We are team 20/20 Vision from HTHCV. Our school focuses on building, design, and cooperating. We face
real world design challenges, and work in teams to accomplish difficult goals.

Overview and Goals

The space we are designing is an Outdoor Kitchen made in a reuseable storage container. The container is 8 by
20, and its 10 high. One side of the container will be cut in half, so one of the sides can be raised on hinges to
act like a sun visor, we plan to make the container easy accessible kitchen for the artists, where they can cook,
eat, and enjoy the space around them.

The first purpose of this space is to give the artists easy access to food and cooking. This is so the artists dont
have to drive far away to buy expensive food and materials. We also want to bring Space 4 Arts community
together by having small events and get togethers. The artists can invite friends and family over to the kitchen if
they choose. We plan to make this a stress-free environment.

Another purpose for this space is to provide storage. Storing food and kitchen materials is extremely difficult to
store and keep maintained. The unique storage we have designed are pantry-like tables where items can be put
away and used for later. There are multiple tables so storage is unlimited.

The last purpose for this space is the environmental benefits it gives the space around it. The storage container
is reusable, its not powered by gas, and its reusing about 3,500kg steel. Its also nice for the artists to
experience something new.

Our goal is to make the mobile kitchen easily accessible for all the inhabitants, and will be maintained by those
who use it on a daily basis. We are planning to have it deep cleaned on Thursdays so it can be clean for the
weekend and Friday nights. Those who deep clean it are the ones who use it the most.

Funding Section

The grant we will be applying for is the Lowes Toolbox Grant. The Spring 2017 grant cycle will open on
December 18, 2016 and close on February 9, 2017. The grant it $5,000.

The fundraiser on January 21st will take place at Space 4 Art from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Tickets will be sold for
entry. This purchase also includes a plate of food, and 2 drink vouchers. The raffle items and auction are for
people to donate money for the design spaces.

On January 10th, we would like to have an additional fundraiser to sell 20/20 Vision merchandise, such as
shirts, hoodies, long sleeve shirts, hats, bracelets, pins, coffee mugs, keychains, posters, and book bags. For our
recycling drive, we plan to do this event at our school by putting boxes in each class so people can donate cans,
plastic bottles, soda bottles, glass, cartons, and tin cans. This event will last for a couple of weeks.
Site and Physical Planning:

The Outdoor Kitchen is located on the first floor, east of the laundry room. We decided to do this because of a
plumbing advantage. We plan to buy a shipping container, and build on it from the inside. Its mobile so it can
be moved for events.

Model
This is our Floor Plan. The top area is the birds eye view, and the bottom area is what it looks like when the top
folds up on hinges.
