1. Introduce yourself.

My name is Subham Das. I have studied computer science engineering from Institute of Engineering
& Management College, Kolkata. I am currently working in Infosys Limited, Bhubaneswar. I work as
Test Engineer in US health Insurance domain. Since a year, I have been leading a team of 12 people
in my project team in Infosys. As a subject matter expertise (SME), I am actively involved in
delegating the tasks to the team and also guiding them to deliver the high quality work. I like to play
bridge in my leisure time. Besides, I sometimes play table tennis and lawn tennis with my friends.

2. Why do you want to do an MBA?


At my current workplace, I have learnt how to work as a team and how to lead a team. I have
always felt that the key to get the work done perfectly by a resource is to motivate him in the
right way. I want to do an MBA to sharpen my people management skills. Besides, doing an MBA
will help me to familiarize with real life business situations. I will be more confident at handling
pressure. These will ultimately help me to reach my goal which is to take up the baton of our
family business from my father. I want to bring about the true potential of our business by
applying my acquired skills and experiences.

3. What is your 5 year and 10 year goal?


5 Year - Having completed my MBA, in next 5 years, I see myself working at a respectable
position in a multinational company to gather relevant knowledge, to sharpen my people
management skills, to analyze and mitigate risks and to build a strong business relationship
within the company and with clients.
10 year - I want to take up the baton of our family business from my father. I will invest my
savings in family business to expand it. I want to bring about the true potential of my business
by applying my acquired skills and considerable experiences.
4. Why IIFT?
IIFT is a deemed university, established by Govt of India(Ministry of Commerce and Industry).It is
the one of the top 10 B-schools in India.
It has a good mix of students in a batch which is very important in a B-school.
It has a batch strength of around 320 students which is neither small nor large. This helps in
many ways such as
Everyone knows everyone.

Importance of studying International Business


The International Business standards focus on the following:

raising awareness of the interrelatedness of one country's political policies and economic practices
on another;
learning to improve international business relations through appropriate communication strategies;
understanding the global business environmentthat is, the interconnectedness of cultural, political,
legal, economic, and ethical systems;
exploring basic concepts underlying international finance, management, marketing, and trade
relations; and
Identifying forms of business ownership and international business opportunities.
By focusing on these, students will gain a better understanding of Political economy. These are tools that
would help future business people bridge the economical and political gap between countries.

5. What makes you special?/Why should we choose you over the other applicants?
Well, I certainly am not aware of the other applicants abilities, so its not just for me to
comment on it. I can only speak about myself. In terms of facts, I can say that I have quite good
academic record. My performance has always been on a rising note and I have proved myself in
the professional world. I always look for my areas of improvements and try to work on them.
6. What are your strengths?
I am optimistic, even if some bad thing happens to me or someone criticizes me, I try to find
positive notes in it. I am a consistent performer as it is evident from my past academic and
professional records.
I am punctual and a smart worker.
7. What are your weaknesses?
I am not good at saying NO to people. I have faced difficulties at my workplace due to this.
When I was a junior at my team, seniors used to dump all their works on me. I had to stay late
nights to complete all the assigned tasks. But, I have been working on this weakness and I have
improved a lot. I have realized that this is a quality everyone must possess, to survive in the
professional world.
8. What are your hobbies/ what do you do in your leisure time?

I like to play lawn tennis or Bridge with my friends if it is pre-planned. If I am at my hometown, I


like to spend quality time with my family and friends to strengthen the relationships which help
me during my ups and downs.
9. What is your MBA specialization?
Frankly, I have not finalized it.
If you insist, I will say that I am interested in Operations and IT.
Reason I have acquired sound domain knowledge after working for 2 and half years. I am now
quite good at planning, risk identification and mitigation, managing resources be it people or
time. I believe one has to possess all these qualities to be successful in this field. Besides, I have
seen only one side of the coin and I want to learn the other aspects of a business such as
contracting, interacting with clients, planning at a wider level etc.
10. Tell us about your work.
My current designation is Test Engineer. I am involved in manual and automation testing in US
Health Insurance domain.
Usually, my responsibilities are giving estimation to new projects, planning the scenarios to be
tested. In the meantime, I need to analyze the scope and identify if there is any risk. Once
documentation phase is done which is normally the first 1 and a half months, execution phase
begins. We perform system and regression testing in this phase. We report defects if any and
finally provide sign off on the final product.
11. Leadership qualities.
Since a year, I have been leading a team of 12 people in my project team in Infosys. As a subject
matter expertise (SME), I am actively involved in delegating the tasks to the team and also
guiding them to deliver the high quality work. Besides, I have been grooming the team to the
next level as a process of Competency Development Plan.
