Title: Advent Wreath

Objective of Lesson (in own words): have students learn the meaning and the names of the
candles used in the advent wreat

Teaching Strategy Discuss Advent with the students and refresh their minds of what the

Have students gather in a circle around the Wreath
Say the prayer and light the candle

Activity Sequence
Time 20 mins
Teaching Strategy Teacher will go through the Wreath guide with the class and discuss
(Presentation, explanation,
practice, approach, etc.) the placements and meanings of the candles with students
Student Activity Students will read and following along asking and answering
questions as they arise
Students will label and colour the candles on the Wreath sheet
according to their appropriate location and colours
Resources Advent wreath sheet
Assessment Summative Assessment of the labels and colours of the candles.

Teaching Strategy Review the Christ candle
