arrangement of computer networking devices. The term topology refers to the way in which the various nodes or computers of a network are linked together. Topology determines the data paths that may be used between any pair of devices of the network. It may be depicted physically or logically. Physical topology is the placement of the various components of a network including device location and cable installation and while logical topology refers how data flows within a network. In this type of topology all the nodes are connected to the single cable by the help of t- connectors. This central cable is the backbone of the network and it is known as bus topology. Entire network shutdown if there is break in the main cable. STAR NETWORK TOPOLOGY
In local area networks with a star topology, each
network host is connected to a central hub with a point-to-point connection. So it can be said that every computer is indirectly connected to every other node with the help of the hub. In Star topology, every node (computer workstation or any other peripheral) is connected to a central node called hub, router or switch. The switch is the server and the peripherals are the clients. The network does not necessarily have to resemble a star to be classified as a star network, but all of the nodes on the network must be connected to one central device. All traffic that traverses the network passes through the central hub. The hub acts as a signal repeater. The star topology is considered the easiest topology to design and implement. An advantage of the star topology is the simplicity of adding additional nodes. The primary disadvantage of the star topology is that the hub represents a single point of failure. MEANING OF RING TOPOLOGY In Ring topology each host machine connects to exactly two other machine, creating a circular network structure when one host tries to communicate or send message to a host is not peer within the data travels through all intermediate hosts. MEANING OF MESH TOPOLOGY In mesh topology each and every node is connected to every other node with separate cable. Mesh network has not (n-1)1/2 physical channels to connects N devices. TREE TOPOLOGY A tree network is a combination of two or more star networks connected together which involve a variety of single nodes connected to a central node. Multiple stars involve either a series or tertiary nodes attached to two or more secondary nodes, which are attached to the tress primary trunk node. Expert may define a tree topology as a combination of star and bus topology ,where multiple elements are connected through a single lateral connection. HYBRID TOPOLOGY A hybrid topology is a type of network topology that uses two or more other network topologies, including bus topology, mesh topology, ring topology, star topology ,and tree topology . It is two different types of topologies which is a mixture of two or more topology. CONCLUSION In conclusion, the bus topology is suitable for both the size and geometric shape of the classroom. Nodes can always be added to the network and maintenance is easy. However, in the future, problems such as performance degradation due to shared bandwidth as additional computers are added could arise.
