Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988)[1][2] is an American professional

basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association
(NBA). He unexpectedly led a winning turnaround with the New York Knicks in 2012,
which generated a global craze known as "Linsanity".

Lin grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned Northern California Player of
the Year honors as a senior in high school. After receiving no athletic scholarship
offers, he attended Harvard University, where he was a three-time All-Conference
player in the Ivy League. Undrafted out of college, Lin reached a partially
guaranteed contract deal in 2010 with his hometown Golden State Warriors. He seldom
played in his rookie season and was assigned to the NBA Development League (D-
League) three times. He was waived by the Warriors and the Houston Rockets the
following preseason before joining the New York Knicks early in the 2011V12
season. Lin continued to be played sparingly and again spent time in the D-League.
In February 2012, he led a winning streak by New York while being promoted to the
starting lineup. In the summer of 2012, Lin signed a three-year contract with the
Rockets, for whom he played two seasons before the Los Angeles Lakers acquired him
in a trade. He played one season with the Lakers before signing with the Charlotte
Hornets. He signed with Brooklyn the following season.

Lin is one of the few Asian Americans in NBA history, and the first American of
Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the league. He is also known for his public
expression of his Christianity.

On July 7, 2016, Lin signed a three-year, $36 million contract with the Brooklyn
Nets.[224][225] He made his debut for the Nets in their season opener on October
26, 2016, in an away game against the Boston Celtics. In 27 minutes as a starter,
he scored 18 points in a 122V117 loss.[226] Two days later, he recorded a near
triple-double with 21 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in a 103V94 home-
opener win over the Indiana Pacers.[227] On December 12, 2016, he returned to
action for Brooklyn for the first time since November 2 when he suffered a strained
left hamstring. He played 20 minutes off the bench and scored 10 points in a
122V118 loss to the Houston Rockets.[228] On January 23, 2017, after nearly a
month on the sidelines, Lin was ruled out for a further three to five weeks after
re-aggravating his strained left hamstring.[229] On February 24, 2017, Lin was back
in the starting lineup for the Nets after missing 26 games with his hamstring
strain. He played just under 15 minutes and scored seven points with five assists
in a 129V109 loss to the Denver Nuggets.[230] On March 14, 2017, he had a season-
high 24 points in a 122V104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.[231] On April 6,
2017, he set a new season high with 32 points in a 115V107 loss to the Orlando
Magic.[232] He ended the season with a total of only 36 games played, despite being
on the roster the entirety of the season.[233]
