The Countermeasures of Error 16, 17

A. Error 16 : Ribbon Search Error - The printer cant search the ribbon panel in printing or booting up.

1. The contamination of Color-In Sensor -> Clean the Color-In sensor and check it in
CardPrinterDiagnostics. If the value of color is not changed, replace the color-in sensor.

2. The contamination of Color-Out sensor -> Run the CardPrinterDiagnostics, open the Top Cover
and Check the Color-Out sensor lighting (green and blue). If not, replace the color-out sensor.

3. Not adjustment of setup value after changing Thermal Print Head -> Run the CardPrinterSetup
and check the head s/n and resister value. Open the Top Cover and compare head s/n and resister
value. If it is different, change the values in CardPrinterSetup to installed printers values.
4. The abnormal state of the ribbon -> Open the Top Cover and take the ribbon cartridge out. Check
the assembling state of the ribbons core and gear. If there is a gap between ribbon' core and gear,
you strongly press the both sides of ribbon to remove the gap between ribbon's core and gear and
test.
5. The poor assembling state of the ribbon feeding gears -> Take the ribbon cartridge out and
wheel 2 ribbon feeding gears by your finger. If the gear wheeling is too rough, reassemble it and
grease it. (Refer to Technical guide to grease the gears)
6. The defective ribbon -> Replace the ribbon. Ribbon tag is bad, it happens.
7. The defective Ribbon RF board -> Check the FFC cable between Ribbon RF board and Main Board.
And if Ribbon RF Board is bad, replace it.
8. The poor state of ribbon motor -> If ribbon motor is too weak or out of order, replace it.
9. The deterioration of parts -> Replace I/O right cable, or USB cable, or Adopter. Every time one
part replaced, test and find the defective part.
10. The inner problem in mainboard -> Replace the mainboard.

B. Error 17 : Ribbon Move Error - The printer cant wind the ribbon in printing or booting up.

1. Ribbon remains 0 -> Open the Top Cover and check the remains. Use the new ribbon.
2. Wrong value in Setup -> Check the configure values in CardPrinterSetup. Especially Density,
RMM and RMP value is too high or low, adjust the value again.
3. The bad states of ribbon -> Please check the ribbon cartridge. Sometimes ribbon is attached by
cleaning roller or ribbon is wrinkled.
4. The contamination of Encoder Sensor -> Check in CardPrinterDiagnostics. If the part as below is
not blinking, replace the encoder sensor.

5. The contamination of Ribbon Belt -> It it is not normal, replace it.

6. The poor assembling state of the ribbon feeding gears -> Take the ribbon cartridge out and
wheel 2 ribbon feeding gears by your finger. If the gear wheeling is too rough, reassemble it and
grease it. (Refer to Technical guide to grease the gears)
7. Replace the ribbon motor. If the ribbon motor is not normal, it cant rewind the ribbon.
8. Replace the I/O right cable to connect the ribbon motor.
