Awatertightbulkheadisformedfromplatesattachedtotheshell,deckandtank
topbymeansofwelding.Thebulkheadsaredesignedtowithstandafullhead
waterpressureandbecauseofthisthethicknessoftheplatingatthebottomofthe
bulkheadmaybegreaterthanthatatthetop.Verticalstiffenersarepositioned
760mmapartexceptwerecorrugatedbulkheadsareused.
Watertightbulkheadsmustbetestedwithahoseatapressureof200Kn/m2.The
testbeingcarriedoutfromthesideonwhichthestiffenersarefittedandthe
bulkheadmustremainwatertight.
Watertightbulkheadswhicharepenetratedbypipes,cablesetc.mustbeprovided
withsuitableglandswhichpreventthepassageofwater.

arrangedtocloseverticallyorhorizontally.
