Unit-II
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of this course, students will be formulate the torsion of non circular solid and
multi cell sections.
At the end of this course, students will be able to calculate the centrifugal stresses of rotating
discs.
OUTCOMES
- Knowledge of soap film and membrane analogy
- Ability to apply soap film analogy and to calculate the torsion of non circular sections.
- Ability to derive the centrifugal stresses of rotating rings and discs.
Unit-III
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of this course, students will be able to find slope, deflection, bending moment of
various beams for different loading conditions.
OUTCOMES
- Acquaintance with the terminology and types beams.
- Knowledge of Winkler beam theory
- Ability to derive the deflection, slope bending of infinite and semi infinite beams for Point load
and UDL.
Unit-IV
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of this course, students will be able to find the crippling load of columns for
various boundary conditions.
OUTCOMES
- Acquaintance with different types of columns.
- Acquire the knowledge of the Eulers theory and Rankines hypothesis.
- Ability to calculate effective length of columns for various boundary conditions.

COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of this course, students will be able to understand the Winkler bach formula and its
derivation for bending stress for curved beams
OUTCOMES
- Acquire the knowledge to differentiate the beams and curved beams.
- Ability to derive the bending stress of curved beam of various cross sections
