Notes on conjugation:
In its regular form, the present subjunctive is generally easy to conjugate, and easy
to remember once you learn the rules. With regular present subjunctive verbs, take
the present singular I/yo form of the regular present indicative and remove the o.
Then add the appropriate ending from the following list:
-ar verbs:
-e, -es, -e, -emos, -is, en
-er and -ir verbs:
-a, -as, -a, -amos, -is, -an
Unfortunately, as with many Spanish verbs, there are a large number of irregular
conjugations. However, most of these can be grouped and each group of irregular
verbs follows its own gramatical rules. For example, referring to the irregular verbs
below and others that are similar, ir, huir, and haber can be grouped together, as can
pensar, perder and mentir, and tener, salir and venir. Once patterns can be found in
irregular verbs, all Spanish tenses are far less daunting!
