Russia and the West: Dialogue on the background of translation
The article discusses the problems of contemporary trends of globa-
lization vs. autonomy in culture. The opposition of these trends is characteristic
of modern literary links between Russia and the West, Russian internal tradi-
tion in reading and translation. The article gives the typology of these trends
and their influence on Russian-speaking culture.

THE INTERACTION BETWEEN THE CATEGORy OF FOCUS AND
THE CATEGORy OF SALIENCE IN THE ENGLISH CLEFTS
Abstract: In this article we examine the views of the focus as a thematical-
ly important element. We show that the cleft doent increase the salience of the
focus denoted by thatclause. We explore the interaction between the category
of focus and the category of the salience and raise some questions whether the
notion of focus is a part of more general notion of salience.

Abstract: The article is dedicated to the psycholinguistic verbal descrip-


tion analysis of the personality degradation in fiction. The author reveals the
personality degradation reasons in the close interrelationship with the destruc-
tive character accentuation peculiarities.
The semantic field of the ruining personality communication and activity
factors is described in the article. These factors lead to the personality degra-
dation.

Abstract: This article is devoted to the main principles of the linguistic
theory worked out by John Rupert Firth, an outstanding British linguist, whose
work dates back to the XXth century. He is also considered to be the founder of
the London school of linguistics, a subdivision of structural linguistics. A great
attention is paid to the development of his theory, the layout of his main ideas
and his connection with H. Sweet and B. Malinowski.

Features of use of verbal designs with a verb seem.

The Subject of studying of given article is rather


comparative analysis of verbal designs in English and Spanish
languages. The problem of the given research consists in revealing of distinc-
tions and features of use. Research has shown that the object of derivative
verbs demands dative clitic and blocks phenomenon occurrence subject-to-
subject from what it is possible to draw a conclusion that the second is under
the influence of the first.

About subcategories of class of The intellectual capacities in the
Russian language

In this paper the definition of the concept of person in relation to the


concept of intellectual ability is given in the Russian language on the ma-
terial of idioms. The author found that the formation of denotatum idioms is
due to the right kinds of specification categories baseline, and in detail, in ad-
dition to the basic concepts involved other representation or representation,
assignment, and it creates a new concept that defines a manifestation of a basic
concept.
