ThepiechartsillustratetheprimaryreasonsthatpeoplecametoandlefttheUKin2007.At
firstglance,itisclearthatthemainfactorinfluencingthisdecisionwasemployment.
Havingadefinitejob accountedfor30percentofimmigrationtotheUK,andthisfigurewas
very similar to emigration, at 29%. A large number of people, 22%, also emigrated because
theywerelookingforajob,althoughtheproportionofpeopleenteringtheUKforthispurpose
wasnoticeablyloweratlessthanafifth.
AnothermajorfactorinfluencingamovetotheUKwasforformalstudy,withoveraquarterof
