Why do people do crazy things for love. How can it make you do things that can even
threaten a life. These two stories, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and pyramus and Thisbe
both show how love can make people do insane things to be with each other. In the play, The
Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by shakespeare, the other shows the readers how the two would go
to as far as death because of much they loved each other. This play tells the story of Romeo and
Juliet, two lovers who do everything to be together. In the end they kill themselves to be
together forever in death because of their families revelry. There were three things of love that
was shown in the the two stories, passion, joy, and pain.
The meaning of passion is strong and barely controllable emotion and it is represented a
lot in the two. A text from Romeo and Juliet perfectly explains pasion. Then move not while my
prayers effect I take. Thus from my lips, by thine my sin purged.[kisses her](I/v/203).This
evidence displays on how Romeo was being passionate for his love of Juliet. It is apparent that
he would be passionate towards her because he was showing a piece of what love is. In addition
from Pyramus and Thisbe, She is quick to recognize her lover; with loud blows she beats her
arms-though they do not deserve such punishment. She tears her hair, enfolds her loves dear
form; She fills his wounds with tears that mingle with his blood(Ovid 286). This example
explains that Thisbe couldnt handle her emotions because of Pyramus death and lost control.
This reveals passion in Pyramus and Thisbe just like in Romeo and Juliet. Both stories had a
scene of passion, one was strong and the other was barely controllable.
Both Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe have had joy being with each other. The
next two scenes show the joy they had before they died. In Romeo and Juliet O, she doth teach
the torch to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an
Ethiops ear(I/v/201). This evidence illustrates how Romeo is happy to see Juliet in secret.
This shows how joyful he was to see her. In relation to this, The wall their houses shared had
one thin crack, which formed when they were built and then was left; in all these years, no one
had seen that cleft; but lovers will discover everything(Ovid 284). This displays how they were
happy to have found a way to be with each other in secret from their family. It shows how much
joy comes them just hearing the other's voice. The two have share a moment of joy when the two
were together.
Pain has had a huge impact in the two stories that changed everything. It is the reason
why they die at the end because they were in so much pain. Yea, noise? Then Ill be brief. O
happy dagger![snatches Romeos dagger] This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die.[She stabs
herself and falls](V/iii/274). This example explains that because of Romeos death Juliet killed
herself from the pain she was feeling. She couldnt handle the pain of not being with him. On a
similar note, Now drink from my blood, too! And then he drew his dagger from his belt and
thrust it hard into his gut(Ovid 286). This evidence shows how he didnt want to live without
her even though she didnt really. He loved her so much life would have been painful without
her. Pain changed the entire story in the two and resulted in death.
One question that will cant be answered is why people do crazy things when theyre in
love. One thought for it is because of the emotions passion, joy, and pain.
