Living in Harmony
Martin Luther King Jr. once stated, If we are to have peace on earth our loyalties must
transcend, our race, our tribe, our earth, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a
world perspective. Some people think that finding common ground is hard but really it isnt. People
fight but its life, everyone fights then makes up. Individuals can find common ground as evidenced by
A Quilt of a Country, Making the Future, Together, and A Raisin in the Sun.
People can easily find common ground with each other. In the argument, A Quilt of a Country,
the text, Other countries with such division have a fact divisions into a new nation with new names,
but not this one, impossibly interwoven even in its hostilities (Quindlen 2). In this example the reader
learn that this nation isnt the same as other one. The nation has different people and different race.
This demonstrates finding common ground because people can be different and still be friends.
Furthermore, finding common ground isnt difficult. In the blog, Making the Future Better, Together,
explains, Now is the time for redemption now is the time of reconciliation now is the time to build the
community( Patel 8). This shows that people make the community and people shouldnt fight or argue
with one another. What is understood here is that not everyone is perfect. As a result finding common
Humans should find common ground with people because its easier not to fight. In the play,
The Raisin in the Sun, the text describes, You look young this morning baby (Hansberry 2 i 16-17).
In this example the viewers learn that Walter and Ruth have a complicated relationship. A conclusion

can be drawn that Walter still loves Ruth even through the rough times they have together.
Furthermore, the family lives in harmony. In the play, A Raisin in the Sun, the author states, I mean
sometimes people can do things so that things are better (Hansberry 2 i 31-32). By looking that
mama readers can assume that they will fight for the family. This evidence suggests that they are
finding common with each other. In the end the whole family found common ground and managed to
One should acknowledge that finding common ground is easier than fighting. It is clear that in
the texts people found common ground with each other. It is extremely important for people to find
common ground, so people get to know a person instead of assuming that they are horrible people.

Notes:
Chloe, you have most of the items on the essay template. However, you needed to really fine tune
this speech and expand on your ideas for each body paragraph to get that high B or A grade. You
just stop short and do not expand on your ideas when they are good ideas! Your essay has mistakes
in punctuation too. This was also formatted in MLA (Times New Roman font) for you so why has that
changed? We went over these items during revision in class! Your final draft should be a clean draft!
