It depends on the particular area or aspect of tourism you explore with your thesis- that is, wild life,
cultural heritage, cultural relics, modern development or civilization, rural life or rural communities,
etc. It also depends on whether you are promoting or discouraging tourism. If you are promoting
tourism, a topic area that is not only interesting but would solve critical problems both for your
government, your national tourism board, and tourists you want to attract to your country is
important and might include the followings:
Corporate social responsibility and sustainable development of the tourism industry in, say, the
Philippines or Nigeria.
The National Image in radical transformation of Tourism.
The ironic positive role of climate change in modernisation of the tourism industry- with particular
reference to the Philippines (white) beaches.
The never-before-seen or little-known tourist attractions in the Philipines.
Economic and cultural returns on investment in the tourist industry.
Since even misguided, closed-countries now encourage tourism, I dont think any serious democratic
country would discourage tourism. However, below is a topic area that might inspire you to think of
other themes, if your thesis is to discourage tourism.
Exploring the impact of tourism in the rise of child sexual abuse, sexually transmitted diseases,
drug and human trafficking, etc.
The danger of tourism as the main GDP earner.
