Ms. Knopf has taught in Addison School District #4 for the last year. Her responsibilities included teaching music at the Early Childhood Center, teaching grades 1-5 general mosic and Fullerton Elementary School, and grades 6-8 choir at Indian Trail Junior High. Katie is ‘an outstanding educator. It is clear to me that her personal qualities and pedagogy would make her 1 wonderful asset to any teaching faculty. As an educator, Katie has an inner drive to excel at her craft. She is dynamic, dedicated, collegial, and student centered. Her classroom community is infused with energy, responsiveness, and respect. In the classroom, students depend on her consistency and advocacy to help them succeed. AAs the orchestra director and team leader, I worked with Ms. Knopf in a supportive role. T never formally observed Katie in the classroom, but I have observed her performances on many occasions and was in the classroom informally as well. As a responsive educator, Ms. Knopf ‘s class is a place where students are able to learn and participate without fear of failure, She also has excellent classroom management and I am always amazed at how much she accomplishes with her students in a short amount of time. Katie has consistently gone above and beyond here in Addison School District #4. During her time here, she took her combined choir to the Ilinois Grade Schoo! Music Association District Contest where they received a Division I rating. Due to their success at District Contest, they also partici- pated in State Contest and received a Superior rating. This is something that has not been accom plished by past choir directors in our district for years and Katie accomplished this in her first year.
