ASSIGNMENT NO.

2 DISCRETE-TIME SIGNAL AND SYSTEM

PROBLEM #1
A discrete-time signal is defined as:

1+ 3 1
() = { 3
1 04
0

Determine the output of the following signals using sequence representation:

a. x(n)
b. y1(n) = 3x(3n2)
c. y2(n) = x(n+1) +u(n+2)
d. y3(n) = x(2n)[6(n+1)4(n+5)]
e. y4(n)= 6x(n+4) x(n)

PROBLEM #2
Classify the following systems with the properties of discrete-time system.
Time-
Memory Linearity Causality Stability
Invariance
a. () = ()( 1)
b. () = (2 1) + ()

c. () = 2() + ()

d. () = 2 () + ( + 1)

e. () = log[()]

PROBLEM #3
An input-output relation is described as
y(n) = y(n1) x(n) + x(n1) x(n3)
Draw the block diagram of the discrete-time system described by the input-output
relation, with the following conditions:
No more than 3 adders
2 constant multipliers
3 Unit Delay Elements that can delay by one sample each
Determine the response of the system with the input given as:
2
() = {3, 2, 1, , 2, 2, 3}

Where y(-4)=0, the system is initially relaxed. Prepare a table for solution.
