PRTG ARCHITECTURE PRTG Core Server: responsible for the administration of PRTG's built in database, the
execution of data analysis, notifications, and alarms, as well as the preparation of reports.

PRTG Local Probe: takes over the actual monitoring task. It transmits monitoring
requests, collects results and forwards the gathered information to the Core Server.

PRTG Remote Probe: enables remote monitoring. Can be installed on any system, running
Windows OS, at different locations, which relieves the processing done on the Core Server.

PRTG OBJECT HIERARCHY All objects in PRTG are organized in a treelike hierarchy to create an easy to navigate list.
Arrange groups that monitor similar devices, services, or particular locations and cus-
tomized this view to your needs. The hierarchical order is also used to define common
settings for larger groups of objects. Settings are automatically passed down the tree.
