IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER

CHAPTER TWO

Prayer is the most difficult, most intensive and most important of all spiritual
duties of Christians. It is not only spiritual warfare but warfare of its own. Prayer
is the key to power and it gives us authority over Satan and his agents. Prayer
generally is said in words, by word God created most things we also are justified
by our words. By not praying we can loose almost all our entitlements from God
including prosperity, health, peace, protection and even salvation.
Prayer is so important that a child of God, disciples, followers and the Apostles of
Jesus Christ know it and they asked Jesus Christ to teach the how to pray
Luke 11:1 prayer is the ultimate force available to Christians specifically and
human beings at large.

Life on earth is full of challenges. Every human being is seeking for solutions to
lifes problems and challenges. To a good extent, some solutions have been
found but only temporarily. The ultimate solution has not been achieved by man
in his own power scientific discoveries have been helpful but have never been all
curative.

The only permanent solution to mans situation on earth is God; the only way to
God is by prayers through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. John 14:13 14.

There is yet to be seen such challenges in this world that prayer cannot solve,
that is why the Holy Spirit instructed believers in Christ to pray without ceasing.

Without prayer, we cannot communicate with God Psalm 65:2 says O

thou that hearest prayer unto thee shall all flesh come.

We need prayer when we are weak spiritually Isaiah 40:31 when you go
to the almighty in prayer; He will take away your weakness and give you
His strength.

JESUS THE EXAMPLE OF PRAYER

And it came to pass, that as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased

disciples Luke 11:1

In other words the disciples know that Jesus is the only one who can teach them
how to pray aright, he is an example for us the believers, we ought to follow His
foot steps.

Therefore to teach means to impart knowledge to somebody or group of people.

To impart skill by instruction or example, to show, to exaplain, to equip with or to
inculcate someone with some knowledge or information
Christ our example of prayer as He also demonstrated in the garden of:
- Gensemene, He demonstrated His prayer life in so any occasions with
different situation and circumstances.
- When Jesus Christ was with the disciples during His earthly ministry when
the disciples gather to eat and break bread, He will pray the prayer of

pray a forgiven prayer for His persecutors and the world at large.

OUR LORDS PRAYER LUKE 11:1-4

In this special prayer, popularly called Our Lords prayer, our Lord Jesus
Christ set for us a method that we can always make use of when we approach
God in prayer.

i. Our father which art in heaven Recognizing the fatherhood of God

overall things and all creation.
ii. Hallowed be thy name This means holy sanctified blessed,
concecrated, sacred respected it means that the name of our God is
highly set apart, we must demonstrate this attitude to Almighty God in
prayers.
iii. Thy kingdom come this is saying about the perfect will of God for
mankind that the kingdom of God be established on earth, the joy,
peace, fellowship blissfulness in His Kingdom should come to man.
iv. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. This is the kingdom of
Gods will be in our hearts to fulfillment of the coming kingdom of God.
v. Give us day by day our daily bread This implies that we request from
God our daily needs God has promised to supply all our needs daily.
As he supplies for each day we must know and believe that He shall
provide for us tomorrow.
vi. And forgive us our sins for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to
us This means that we cultivate the holy habit of forgiving our offers.
This shall ensure that when we ask God for forgiveness we shall get
our positive prayer answer.
vii. And lead us not into temptation. This means that we must pray daily
for deliverance from temptations from the powers and forces of
darkness and wicked human beings, who have evil intensions and use
prayer to ward them off.
viii. But deliver us from evil. This means we need to pray against evil, pray
our life out of evil that we have inherited from our foundation evil we
have cause by ourselves through sins, and against the evil programme
and master minided against us.

This is where deliverance prayers come in. This must be done in all its details.

CHAPTER FIVE

IMPORTUNATE PRAYER

There is no doubt about it, it is certain it is an absolute promise made by the Son
of God Himself speaking with the fullness and authority of His Father.

When we talk about importunate prayer we refer to the book of Matthew 7:7

ASKING, SEEKING AND KNOCKING

Here we see three faces of prayers. Asking is normal prayer of requesting from
God.
Seeking is prayer with a mindset to know or receive a particular answer.
Knocking is intense prayer.

These three (3) words emphasized that we are to show persistence,

perseverance and importunity.

These three words connote that we must bring to God an undiscouraged life of
prayer which tells our rightness of the things we ask for and also test our sincerity
in asking for them.

Asking, seeking and knocking do not just mean that if we ask for anything we
like, we got it.

The word anything does not mean any thing bad or anything harmful to us or to
others it simply means anything that will be good for us in line with the will of God
that will promote the Kingdom of God.

If you ask any of the things that are good for your salvation of your soul, anything
that brings you nearer to God and ehance your life for good He will give it to you.
