Day adventure trip for class 3 Hiking & rope activity in Kootkalbetta on June 24th, Saturday
Destination brief: Kootkalbeta, about 55 km from Bangalore. Sited deep in the countryside near
Ramnagaram, this rocky hill is one of the many soaring hills of Ramanagaram. Kootkalbeta is crowned by
an ancient temple attached with a kalayani (temple pond). For naturalists, this is a region that
immediately needs to be protected from any disturbance as two highly threatened birds - the white
backed vulture and the yellow throated bulbuls are found here.
Tentative schedule [subject to activity, weather & traffic conditions]: Doddakallasandra SKCA
campus: Departure time is 7:30 AM. Arrival around 5:30 PM.
Tariff: Rs.870 per head. Includes non-ac bus, vegetarian meals and activity as mentioned and facilitation
charges. Use online payment facility on edchemy.kumarans.org. Team size would be limited.
Essentials: Wear comfortable full cotton casual top, full cotton trouser and lightweight rubber soled
canvas/trekking shoes. Avoid school shoes. In a small backpack, carry packed breakfast, sunhat, water
bottle (with sling) and deep rimmed plate (strictly no paper plates) and rain wear (or extra set of clothes).
Do not carry any snacks. Vegetarian lunch, snacks and water for refill will be provided.
Important trip notes: *This is not a picnic. This is an adventure trip. * Do not expect class teachers
to accompany the trip all the time. * Parents are earnestly requested to read the circular carefully and
explain the same to the child. This will prepare the child for the adventure trip. On return from the trip,
encourage the child to talk and do give a patient listening to make the experience a complete learning
experience. * The difficulty level of this trip is very subjective. Weather conditions, physical condition,
possible health problems and other factors can have an important influence on the way you experience
the trip. * The intensity and the weather conditions during the activity may pose a significant challenge to
the over-weight and faint-hearted participants. * The ecology of the wilderness is very fragile. Be eco-
friendly. Plastics, noise and littering is strictly banned. * We advise participants to pack only curiosity and
leave expectations at home. * For team safety, please inform the organizers if participants have any
history of serious illness, injury or are on medication. * Allergy warning: Food may contain nuts, gluten,
dairy products and/or egg.* In event of poor weather, the trip will still take place. Check weather forecast
on www.accuweather.com. * To avoid traffic congestion, parents are requested to leave the premises
immediately after leaving the participant with the organizers * For any clarifications call Mr.Madhu on
