FAQs

WHAT ARE OUTWARD BOUND TRIPS?

This is Kumarans most exciting and happening activity. During weekends and vacations, students indulge in
variety of adventure sports like trekking, camping, cross country cycling, cave walking, fort exploration, rock
climbing, Himalayan trek, Himalayan safari, skiing, kayaking, wildlife camps etc. The club activities are open to
all the students of Kumarans. Participation is optional.

HOW SAFE IS AN ADVENTURE TRIP?

Any adventure sport has its own inherent risks. To limit risks, the adventure sports activities of SKCH are out
sourced to a professional outfit, Woody Adventures Inc. Most adventure programs wont take children into the
wilderness under age 10. Because of the maturity and experience of the organizers and carefully designed
program, Woody Adventures Inc starts outdoor activities at age 6. Physical and psychological safety is at
utmost priority. The activity matches an average childs physical and psychological needs. Neither the chosen
destination is new to the organizers nor are the organizers outsider to the participating children. In over fifteen
years, Woody Adventures Inc has organised more than 300 outings for Kumarans [CBSE, MLS] alone.

WHERE DO ADVENTURE TRIPS HAPPEN?

Except for snow, Karnataka state is blessed with all kinds of landforms apt for adventure. While day outings
and overnight outings are organised in and around Bangalore, three or four days outings are organised a little
away in the Western Ghats. The ultimate adventure is apparently the 1-week expedition when teams venture
out as far as Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland.

HOW ARE THE ADVENTURE TRIPS PLANNED?

The trip dates are meticulously planned considering the academic schedule of tests, exams, school excursions
and holidays. Children are groomed to undertake adventure sports from class 1. The activity for class 1 is soft
and introductory. As the child progresses into higher classes the challenge level proportionally matches the
age. Adventure destinations keep changing every year.

HOW ARE THE TRIPS ORGANISED?

Adventure trip dates are intimated through Pupilpod, circulars and school diary. The circular contains all
relevant information. Private vehicles are hired. The catered food is simple, wholesome and vegetarian. Most of
the wilderness areas where the adventure activities happen have no basic amenities or infrastructure at all.

The organizers will answer all queries in the allotted time mentioned in the circular.
Adventure sport is not everyones cup of tea. Some like some dont!
The intensity and the weather conditions during the activity may pose a significant challenge to the
over-weight and faint-hearted participants.
While reporting for the trip, parents should see that the childs name is listed. Thereafter, parents are
sincerely requested to leave immediately and not wait till the team leaves for the trip. This will
