insulation installed in joint opening as a permanent form. Min 3-1/2
in. (89 mm) thickness of batt cut to the appropriate width and
installed into joint opening such that batt sections are compressed
min 50 percent in width and such that the compressed batt sections
are recessed from the top surface of floor to accommodate the
required thickness of fill material. Adjoining lengths of batt to be
tightly-butted with butted seams spaced min 24 in. (610 mm) apart
along the length of the joint.
B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* Min 1/8 in. (3.2 mm) thickness of fill
material applied within the joint, flush with both surfaces of wall.
See Concrete Blocks (CAZT) category in the Fire Resistance Directory for
names of manufacturers.
2. Joint System Max width of joint is 1 in. The joint system shall consist of
the following:
B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* Min 1/4 in. thickness of fill material
applied within the joint, flush with each surface of wall.
1. Floor or Wall Assembly Min 4-1/2 in. (114 mm) thick reinforced
lightweight or normal weight (100-150 pcf or1600-2400 kg/m3) concrete.
Wall may also be constructed of any UL Classified Concrete Blocks*. Max
diam of openingis7 in. (178 mm).

heavier) steel pipe.
B. Iron Pipe Nom 4 in. diam (102 mm) (or smaller) cast or ductile
iron pipe.
C. Conduit Nom 4 in. (102 mm) diam (or smaller) steel electrical
metallic tubing or Steel conduit.
A. Packing Material Min 4 in. (102 mm) thickness of min 4 pcf (64
kg/m3) mineral wool batt insulation firmly packed into opening as a
permanent form. Packing material to be recessed from top surface of
floor or from both surfaces of wall as required to accommodate the
required thickness of fill material.
B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* Caulk Min 1/4 in. (6 mm) wet
thickness of fill material applied within the annulus on top surface of
floor or both surfaces of wall and overlapping 1 in.(25 mm) onto pipe
and concrete.
CONCRETO
1. Floor or Wall Assembly Min 4-1/2 in. (114 mm) thick reinforced
lightweight or normal weight (100-150 pcf or1600-2400 kg/m3) concrete floor
or min 5 in. (127 mm) thick reinforced lightweight or normal weight concrete
wall. Wallmay also be constructed of any UL Classified Concrete Blocks*.
Max diam of openingis 4 in. (102 mm).
See Concrete Blocks (CAZT) category in the Fire Resistance Directory for
names ofmanufacturers.
max 1-5/8 in. (41 mm). Pipeto be rigidly supported on both sides of floor or
wall assembly. The following types and sizes of non-metallic pipes may
beused:
A. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe Nom 2 in. (102 mm) diam (or
smaller) Schedule 40 solidcore or cellular core PVC pipe for use in
closed (process or supply) or vented (drain, waste orvent) piping
systems.
B. Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) Pipe Nom 2 in. (102
mm) diam (or smaller)SDR 13.5 CPVC pipe for use in closed
(process or supply) piping systems.
A. Packing Material Min 4 in. (102 mm) thickness of min 4 pcf (64
kg/m3) mineral wool battinsulation firmly packed into opening as a
permanent form. Packing material to be recessedfrom top surface of
floor or from both surfaces of wall to accommodate the required
thickness offill material.
B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* - Caulk Min 1/2 in. (13 mm)
thickness of fill material appliedwithin the annulus, flush with top
surface of floor or with both surfaces of wall assembly. Min in. (6
mm) diam bead of caulk applied to the penetrant/concrete interface
at the point contactlocation on the top surface of floor or both
surfaces of wall.
