UPAYA MENUMBUHKAN KEMAMPUAN MENYUSUN PETA KONSEP

SISTEM INDERA GUNA MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR SISWA


KELAS XI IPA 1 SMA NEGERI 3 CILACAP TAHUN AJARAN 2009/2010

ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana kemampuan siswa dalam


menyusun peta konsep dan mengetahui adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa melalui
penerapan metode pembelajaran peta konsep untuk materi pokok sistem indera pada
manusia.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan subjek penelitian siswa
kelas XI IPA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Cilacap. Tindakan yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini
adalah dengan menerapakan metode pembelajaran kemampuan menyusun peta konsep
dalam proses pembelajaran. Indikator kemampuan menyusun peta konsep siswa dilihat
dari nilai hasil peta konsep yang dibuat. Rata-rata nilai peta konsep yang diharapkan
meningkat dari siklus I ke siklus II. Sedangkan indikator keberhasilan belajar
menggunakan metode pembelajaran peta konsep diukur dari penilaian hasil pretes-postes
siswa yang telah mencapai KKM (criteria ketuntasan minimal) sebesar 70 sebanyak 90%
dari seluruh jumlah siswa. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus tindakan. Siklus I dengan sub
materi indera pendengaran dan indera penglihatan dan siklus II dengan sub materi indera
pengecap, pembau, dan peraba. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengetahui
kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun peta konsep berupa lembar pedoman penskoran peta
konsep siswa, sedangkan untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa, digunakan instrumen
berupa soal pretes-postes. Data hasil peta konsep dan hasil pretes-postes siswa dianalisis
dengan analisis deskriptif.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun peta konsep
telah meningkat setelah dilakukan tindakan menerapkan metode pembelajaran
kemampuan menyusun peta konsep dalam proses pembelajaran. Hal tersebut terlihat dari
rata-rata nilai hasil peta konsep siswa sebesar 52.72 pada siklis I yang meningkat menjadi
72.72 pada siklus II. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa melalui metode peta
konsep dapat meningkatakan hasil belajar siswa. Hasil protes siswa yang mencapai KKM
pada siklus I sebesar 42.42% dan mengalami peningkatkan pada siklus II yaitu sebesar
93.93%. peningkatan hasil belajar siswa adalah sebesar 51.51%.

ABSTRACT

This study aims at determining students ability in creating concept maps and
determining the improvement of students learning achievement through a teaching
method of the concept maps on the subject matter of human sensory system.
This was action research with the subject of the students of Class XI IPA 1 of
SMA Negeri 3 Cilacap. An action in this study was done by applying the teaching method
using the ability in creating concept maps in the teaching process. Indicators of students
ability in creating the concept maps were performed by scores of the results of the
concept maps created. The concept-map average score which was expected improved
from Cycle 1 to Cycle 2. Meanwhile, indicators of the learning success using the concept
maps were measured from assessments of students pretest-posttest results reaching
Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (KKM) amounted to 70 as much as 90% of the total
number of students. This study consisted of two cycles. The first cycle included the sub-
topic of hearing and vision senses while the second cycle discussed taste, smell, and
touch senses. The instrument used to determine the students ability in creating concept
maps was assessment guideline sheets while for the determining the students learning
achievement, the instrument of the pretest-posttest was used. Data of the concept-maps
results and the pretest-posttest results of the students were analyzed descriptively.
Research results showed that the students ability in creating the concept maps has
improved after the action of applying the teaching method of creating concept maps in
the teaching process. It could be seen from the average score of the students concept-
maps results amounted to 52.72 in Cycle 1 which improved in Cycle 2 as much as 72.72.
The research results also showed that by the concept-maps method, students learning
achievement could be achieved. The students posttest results reaching the KKM in Cycle
1 amounted to 42.42% and increased in Cycle 2 as much as 93.93%. The students
learning achievement improvement was 51.51%.
