AP Student Summer Project: For ALL 2017-2018 AP Students

Overview: Once you learn something new, what do you do with that information? This summer, the AP team
expects you to foster your own learning and growth through self-selected trips. Go exploring please. You
must visit either a museum (indoor or outdoor), a botanical garden, monument, historical site and create a
page for TimeOut TYWLS, a magazine publication created by the AP cohort of students to be distributed to the
TYWLS community for sustainable learning. Figure out where you want to go and become the expert on an
exhibit. Ask yourself, why is this important?
You must:
1. VISIT the site (and take some notes)
2. REFLECT on your visit and determine why it was worthy of your time and attention
3. PREPARE a short summary of the exhibit
4. PROVIDE location, price, and how to access the site (transportation options)
5. EXPLAIN why this exhibit is important and worthy of a visit. What did you learn?
6. CAPTURE the experience with appropriate imagery (this may be drawn or photographed)
7. CREATE a one page article for our first TimeOut TYWLS (you may use the image and link below as a
model). Be sure to INCLUDE suggestions for how to pursue a topic of interest. For example: If you
liked the G.O.A.T., Again exhibit at Socrates Sculpture Garden you may also enjoy.. because... This
will require you to visit more than one location and make connections throughout your learning.
