EASE Scan Tool Software Installation and
Interface Setup Instructions

Thank You for purchasing the EASE Diagnostics Scan Tool!
Video install instructions to supplement these print instructions are available, if

necessary, at www.fixcarsfaster.com. The videos are broken down into short
discussions of the various aspects of software setup and operation.
IMPORTANT
Please Install Your EASE Scan Tool Software before
installing any other software that came with your
package. UNLESS you have an EASE Universal
Reprogrammer II Interface, then install the
Reprogramming Assistant software first, not the Scan
Tool.
Installing your EASE Scan Tool Software

ATTENTION: Do NOT connect an EASE Vehicle Interface Device to your
Computer until instructed to do so.
ATTENTION: Close any other running applications, including anti-virus software.
The EASE Scan Tool Software Version 11 is available in several forms. Based on how you received your
Scan Tool Software, you will start the instructions at different steps.
If you received a USB Flash Drive from EASE start at Step 4:

If you will perform an electronic download via the Web start at Step 1:
1. Go to the web address in the email you received from EASE when your purchase was made
to begin the web download
(http://www.automotivescantool.com/download/pcst_pro_11/pcst_pro_11.exe)
Note: Disregard step 1 if you have already downloaded the web installer
2. Locate the install file (called: pcst_pro_11.exe) in your download directory and run it
3. Skip to Step 10
4. If you received a USB flash drive from EASE with the scan tool install pre-loaded on it please
insert it into an available USB port at this time.
Note: Depending which version of Windows currently installed (and your options) you may
see a window appear, if the window appears and you are using Windows Vista/7 see Figure 1.
If the window appears and you are using Windows XP see Figure 2. If no window appears
within a few seconds of plugging in the USB flash drive then proceed to step 5.

Open folder to view files and proceed to step 6a. the EASE Scan Tool Software and
proceed to step 7.
5. Open the Start menu and click My Computer or Computer
6. In the My Computer or Computer window double click on the drive called EASE
a. Once in this folder double click on the file called Launch.exe
7. Click on the Red Button to the left of Install Professional Scan Tool Suite (Figure 3).
8. This will bring up the Pro Scan Tool Suite screen (Figure 4).
9. On this screen, click on the Pro Scan Tool USB Install (recommended) button to start the
installation. Only use the Pro Scan Tool Web Install if there is an issue with using the USB
install.
Note: After running the install it is recommended that you run a web update on your scan tool
after installation this can be found under the Internet tab of the scan tool launcher.
10. A message box will appear saying that the software is preparing to install, this will only take a
few moments and you will see the progress bars moving across the screen.
11. Depending on what software you have installed and the speed of your computer, the
installation could take up to 40 minutes.

12. You may see a screen prompting you to uninstall a previous version. If so click Next and the
Wizard will uninstall the previous version automatically. After the old version has been
uninstalled the welcome screen will be displayed (Figure 5), click Next to continue.
13. This will bring up the License Agreement (Figure 6).

a. Please read the agreement carefully before checking the box to accept the terms
b. After checking the box to accept the terms click Next to continue.

14. This will bring you to the Setup Type screen (Figure 7). Choose your preferred installation
type:
a. Complete will install All the Scan Tools.
b. Compact will only install the Generic Scan Tool.
c. Custom will let you choose what tools to install.
15. Then click Next (Figure 7)

16. On the Destination Folder screen. Click Next (Figure 8).

17. A confirmation screen will then be displayed (Figure 9). Review the information and make
sure it is correct before proceeding. Click Next to continue and begin the installation.
18. Once the setup has begun, the Status screen will appear and show the installation progress.

Note: If a previous version of the scan tool was installed on the PC, the Data Migration
Wizard may be displayed. This will transfer your saved data from the previous version to the
new version. Follow the directions on this wizard if you wish to transfer data. Otherwise it can
be ignored by clicking Cancel
19. Throughout the install process, you may see a dialog box similar to the following:

20. When the installation is complete click Finish.
21. If you received your USB flash drive from EASE then it has already been unlocked as a
security dongle. If you are supplying your own USB flash drive as a security dongle follow the
directions in the section below titled Security Dongle Unlock Procedure
Security Dongle Unlock Procedure (requires internet access)

Please Note: If you received your USB flash drive from EASE these directions can be ignored. These
directions are only to be followed if you did not receive a USB flash drive from EASE and you are
supplying your own flash drive for use as a security dongle.
a. After your software has been installed an icon will appear on the desktop called Scan Tool
Launcher 11, double click this icon.
b. After the Launcher opens click the tab called Unlock located near the center of the
window
c. Under this tab there is one available button labeled: Unlock Tool, click this button
d. This will open the UNLOCK window, navigate to the Activate Product tab if you are not
directed there automatically
e. Enter your User Name (typically the email address used to order your scan tool)
f. Enter your Order Number which can be found in the email you received from EASE about
your scan tool
g. Click Get Order
h. Highlight each product in the list below to be activated and click Activate Product at the
bottom of the screen. (this must be done individually for each tool in the list)
i. After this is done the Status column will show that each tool is unlocked
j. Click Close, the unlock process is complete.
22. If you have Internet on your PC the scan tool can check to see if there are any
updates, be sure that it is enabled. This will ensure your scan tool is always up to
date. Open the Generic or any of the O.E.M. scan tools and under the Options
menu, select, Automatically Check for Updates.
23. Your Scan Tool software is now set up
24. If you turned off your virus checker prior to the installation, you can turn it back on
now or after Bonus software is installed (if applicable).
25. If you have an EASE Vehicle Interface that has NOT been set up already please
proceed to the USB Interface Setup section below
Bonus Software (if Applicable)

If you received any bonus software with your package, follow these instructions to install:
1. To install the Bonus Software included with your Scan Tool Package return to the Main
installation screen.
2. Click on the Other Products/Documentation button, the Other
Products/Documentation screen will open.
3. Click on the Bonus software button, the Bonus software screen will open.
4. Click on the Software you wish to install and follow the on-screen instructions.
USB Interface Setup
Note: These directions should be followed only after the EASE Scan Tool has been installed.
1. Plug your EASE Vehicle Interface into an available USB port.

2. If it is the first time youve plugged your USB interface into the PC, then the Found New
Hardware wizard will run and you may see a dialog similar to this:
3. Choose the bottom option, No, not

this time, and then click Next >.
If you dont see a dialog like the one

above when you plug in and power
up your USB interface, then you
already have a suitable USB driver
installed on your PC and you can
ignore these directions
4. Choose the first option, Install the

Software Automatically, and click
Next >. Windows will install the EASE
Vehicle Interface USB driver. You will
again be prompted to approve Figure 13

to click Continue Anyway. Do not press Enter, because this will cancel the operation.
When complete, a dialog similar to the following will appear:
5. Click Finish.
