Subject/Grade Level: ICT 1/7th Grade

Lesson Title: Understanding Word Processing

Lesson Duration: 1-2 Days

Performance Objective: Upon completion of this lesson, the student will be able to
Create new documents.
Save a document correctly.
Create a folder correctly.
Format documents correctly.
Edit a document correctly.
Print a document correctly.

Preparation

Framework Strand: Perform basic word processing applications.

Content Standard Competencies/Objectives: Use basic word processing commands to create, format, edit, and print
documents.

MS CCR/CCSS: CS6, CS8, CS9, CS10, CS11-Learning and Innovation Skills

ISTE: Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative
artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.

Instructional Aids: Electronic worksheets answering question about word processing. Creating documents and making
corrections given by the teacher

Materials Needed: Computer, worksheets

Equipment Needed: Smartboard

Desired Student Prerequisites: Knowledgeable about the Keyboard


Introduction/Anticipatory Set
The teacher will show a short video on GCF about Getting to Know Word (Word Basics):

Students will complete a Kahoot quiz-503813
The teacher will show the students a short demonstration on word.

Application
Guided Practice: The teacher will go through the tutorial first, by taking over their computer and showing them all at once
what to do and how to do it. The teacher will also go over the document the students should complete using the commands.

Independent Practice: The students will complete the tutorial and document on their own by following the
instructions given by the teacher.

Summary
Lesson Closure: The teacher will review what she taught that day and ask the students the questions of why word
processing is in important? Also, the teacher will ask what are some of the commands in word and how they are
used?

Evaluation
Informal Assessment/Review: Student will complete the tutorial and document assignment. The teacher will
monitor the students as they work.

Formal Assessment: Pre-test on commands in word.

Lesson Extension
Extension/Enrichment: Students that understand the lesson will help their peers.
