OBJECTIVES:
1. To learn about the life of Peter and how he truly followed Christ in his lifetime.
2. To bring out the Peter in us, as we strive to everyday serve others and truly live
Christian lives.
DYNAMICS:
1. Opening Worship
2. Game / Activity
This is a very familiar game called Simon Peter says. The facilitator gives this phrase
followed by a command or an action he/she wants the participants to do. If he directly
gives the command, the participants should not do or follow what he says. Those who
make a mistake will be given a corresponding consequence. (The game will run for 10-15
minutes).
3. Talk Proper
4. Group Discussion
5. Large Group Sharing
6. Closing Prayer
I. Introduction
Speakers read through 1 Peter 1: 1-14 as his/her resource reading in handling
this topic completely.
When God chooses people to carry out His mission, He doesnt choose the
richest, or the wisest of men. Rather, God sees the heart and chooses persons who
are available to have the heart for Him. God did the same when Jesus chose Simon
Peter.
Who among you here know who SIMON PETER is? Let me tell you who he is.
Some people put a halo over him and call him St. Peter. From history books, his
Aramaic name is CEPHAS. But Jesus gave him the name PETER, meaning THE
ROCK.
II. The Man Named Peter
Peter was pretty tough character in His younger days. His father, Jonah, was a
fisherman who lived in Galilee on the shores of the sea. Peter had a couple of
buddies, James and John; they ran a fishing business that gave them a pretty fair
living.
We are called to be like PETER of today. There is something in the life of this
man that is in all of us. Like Him, we too, are called to be MAN AND WOMAN OF
ACTION, OF COMMITMENT AND OF LOYALTY, OF COURAGE AND OF CONVICTION.
IV. Conclusion
Like Peter, our lives may not be perfect, but the way God used Him amidst
his fault and failures should give us hope, for the God who changed Peters life, it is
the same God who is still in the business of changing imperfect people like us.
