TITLE OF ASSIGNMENT 2

The emphasis on incorporating technology into the classroom is extremely important

with this tech savvy generation of students. Integrating technology into the classroom has been

all of the rage, but are we giving teachers the knowledge they need to do it? It is not beneficial if

teachers have all of the equipment to incorporate technology, but do not have the knowledge to

use it. This webinar reflects on the technology journey for teachers who are striving to

incorporate technology into their classrooms.

The webinar begins with what technology is and isnt. Many teachers do not know what

types of technology that can be used in their classrooms. Also addressed in this webinar, is the

importance of being a connected educator. Teachers can use social media to stay connected and

up to date with others on the latest technology craze. It is important as a teacher to stay up to date

and connect with other teachers to broaden our teaching styles.

The SAMR model is mentioned in this webinar. Redefinition is technology that allows

for the creation of new tasks, that was previously inconceivable. Modification technology allows

for significant task redesign. Augmentation is an enhancement technology tool that acts as a

direct tool substitute with functional improvement. Substitution is when technology acts as a

direct tool substitute with no functional change. In order to be technologically self-aware as

teachers, understanding this model can create an enhanced technology integrated classroom.

As a future teacher, incorporating technology can be a challenge, but a very rewarding

one. To prepare for incorporating technology in my classroom I could attend a technology

workshop and further my knowledge of the different types of technology that can be used.

Ensuring a firm foundation of this technology can help engage students and enhance the learning

environment. Making myself technologically self-aware will be beneficial in the curriculum that

is encouraged in the classroom today.
