Lam-Angs Heros Journey

1. Ordinary World: Lam-angs ordinary world is Nalbuan, the place where he was born.
2. Call to Adventure: Lam-angs desire to meet and know his father.
3. Refusal: Namongan, Lam-angs mother, forbade him to look for his father while he was still
young and weak.
4. Mentor/Helper: The ghost of Lam-angs father appeared to him in a dream and informed him
that the Igorots killed him.
5. Crossing the Threshold: Lam-ang travelled to Maculili and Dagman to revenge his fathers
death.
6. Tests/Enemies: Lam-ang battled against the Igorots and slew them all.
7. Approach: Lam-ang proceeded to Calanutian to win the hand of the beautiful maiden named
Ines Kanoyan.
8. Ordeal: Lam-ang met Sumarang, his archrival in winning Ines Kanoyans heart, and fought
against him. He won.
9. Reward: Lam-ang succeeded in getting Kanoyans and her parents attention. Moreover, he
was able to provide the needed dowry so he was allowed to marry Ines Kanoyan.
10. Road Back: Out of the observance of tradition, Lam-ang swam in the river to catch a raring
fish. Lam-ang was unfortunately devoured by the Berkakan, the river monster.
11. Resurrection: Ines Kanoyan sought Marcos, the divers, help in retrieving all of Lam-angs
bones. Finally, Lam-ang was brought back to life with the powers of his hen, rooster and dog.
12. Return: Lam-ang was reunited with his wife, Ines Kanoyan, and they went home and lived
together.
