How to Root And Install CWM recovery on Micromax Canvas A116
Prerequisites -
1. Make sure you have 70% to 80% battery power.
2. Enable USB debugging on your Phone: Go to Settings > Manage
Applications > Development > USB Debugging
3. Backup your Phone Data such as SMSes and Phone contacts.
4. Install the USB drivers on your PC from here.
Download the following software:
Sp Flash Tool
ClockWorkMod Recovery
MT6589 Android Scatter emmc.txt

Steps to Install CWM Recovery on Your Phone

1. Extract the files in Sp Flash Tool.zip file and then execute Flass Tool.exe
2. Now in the Smart Phone Flash Tool Window click on Scatter Loading button
and then select MTK Android Scatter emmc.txt file.
3. Now youll see several entries in the list in Smart Phone Flash Tool window.
You need to only select theRecovery - see image below.

4. Now click on Recovery button on the SPFT window and then locate
the recovery.img you downloaded earlier.
5. Now go to Flash tools and Click on USB mode to check and enable it. Now go
to Options > DA Download All > Speed > Force to High Speed.
6. Take out battery and SIM of your Micromax HD A116.
7. Now click on Download button on the Smart Phone Flash Tool window. Ignore
all warnings and hit YES.
8. Now you need to insert the battery and Connect your Phone to your PC via
USB cable while holding theVolume Up key. The flashing process will start.

9. After the process ends youll see a green ring on your phone which indicates
that the process was successful.
10. Now reboot your phone in to Recovery Mode. To do so, press and hold the
Volume Up + Volume Down +Power key. Choose the recovery mode on next
screen and you should see CWM Recovery on your Micromax Canvas A116 HD.
After installing CWM recovery lets Root Micromax A116 now.

Steps to Root A116 Canvas HD

Download SU Package and SU BIN

Now copy the above files to the root of your Phones SD card.
Now boot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up + Volume
Down + Power key.
While in CWM Recovery do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset and Wipe Cache
Partition. Then go to advanced and select Wipe dalvik cache.
Now get back to the main menu and select the option Install Zip from SD
card and then scroll and select theSuperuser 3.1.3-arm-signed.zip (SU
Package). Similarly install SU Bin-3.1.1-arm-signed-.zip.
After the above processes end do a reboot. Youll see the SuperUser app in the
installed apps section which indicates that your A116 Canvas HD is Rooted and
has CWM Recovery installed on it.
You can double check if your phone is rooted or not by downloading Root
Checker from Google Play.

Get "Motochopper, developed by djrbliss" for rooting Motorola devices. It works on most devices
running Jelly bean 4.1 and above.

Here's what you need before you Root.

1. Any Phone with MediaTek MTK6589 Processor and Jelly Bean 4.1+

2. Drivers for ADB (connects the pc with the phone through USB Debugging) - there are many
sources to get these drivers. If you're running the stock micromax firmware, it's found onboard
when you connect the usb. For others running custom firmware, you could download
from moulnisky.com. Even windows update might automatically install these drivers for you, but
it's time consuming. After you've installed this, proceed to the next step to find out if you've
established a proper connection between phone and pc.

3. Connect the phone to PC via USB cable and run the motochopper (run.bat file). press ok. then
connect the phone to pc and enable USB debugging from the developer tools. Now the tool
should push the exploit and root your phone. if no device is detected, go back to step two and
install the correct drivers. if it's done, you're a superuser.
Note: In Android 4.2, Developer Tools will be hidden by default. You'll have to enable it first. For
that, Go to Settings > About Phone > Build Number > Tap 7 Times.

Wanna Unroot and go back to Normal user?

SuperSu > Settings > Full Cleanup and Manually Reboot.

Installation Guide:
Install ADB drivers in your pc, to get your mobile detected (It will
work both in Windows 7- 64 Bit & 32 Bit operating system).
Extract the Motochopper Root Tool from winrar to your Desktop.

In Android 4.2.1, developer tools will be hidden by default. You will

have to enable it to use it Settings > About Phone > Build Number >
Tap 7 Times and you're a developer.

Keep your Canvas HD on, dont switch off your mobile & then
connect the phone to PC as MTP (Media Storage) and enable USB
debugging. Now open the Motochopper root tool folder and
run the run.bat file as administrator (given below in screen shots) &
press any key and you are done within few seconds.

It will reboot the phone automatically.

INSTALLTION NOTE:
1. Install drivers - Mobistel_Cynus_T1_Drivers_x86
2. Open SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1304.0.119
3. Select Scatter file from the downloaded ROM version 4.2.1 (extract
downloaded file from winrar to different folder) and tick all files.
4.Goto options->select usb & select USB Mode & DA Download All - & select force to
High Speeds
5. Remove battery, Sim Cards & Memory Card

5. Press Firmware Upgrade (Dont press download)

5. Insert USB data cable to PC & connect your phone & flash tool will detect your
phone & downloading start automatically

5. When you see green circle then you are done.
