Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910.

She was born in skopje, which is the capitol of the


Republic of Macedonia. She was baptised as Agnex Gonxha Bojaxhiu.
Mother Teresa was born in the republic of Macedonia but is know as Mother Teresa of Calcuta.
When Mother Teresa became nun she promised 3 important vows. The 3 vows were poverty, chastity
and obedience. The vow of poverty is about copying Jesus by living a poor life even if your rich. By doing
this, nuns are able to become poor in spirit and dedicate their life to work. So Mother Teresa gave up material
processions and her family. She lived independently to prissy her calling and serve God as well as others.
The vow as chastity is aiming to imitate Jesus by never getting married. Mother Teresa never got married or
had any sexual behaviours because they are to give all of their love to God. The last vow was a vow about
obedience. In this aspect, Mother Teresa is seeking God by praying, reflecting, and having dialogue with
others.
Once she had become a nun, Mother Teresa was also a teacher in India. Mother Teresa was sent to
Calcutta where she was assigned to teach. She tough at Saint Marys High School for girls, this school is run
by sisters and dedicated to teaching the cities poorest families. Mother Teresa dedicated herself to help make
the girls poverty less severe through education. In 1944, Mother Teresa became the principal of Saint Marys.
Through her commitment to the girls education she led the to a life of devotion to Christ.
On September 10 1946, Mother Teresa experience a call that transformed her life. She was in a train
from Calcutta to Himalayan foothills when she heard Christ speak to her. He told her to abandon teaching
and help in aiding the citys poorest and sickest people in the slums of Calcutta. Although Mother Teresa
took a vow of obedience, she could not just leave her convent. After almost a year and a half, in January
1948 she finally moved to pursue Gods calling. After six months of basic medical training, she voyaged for
the first time to the slums of Calcutta. She had no specific goal than to help and aid the unwanted, unloved,
and uncared for
In 1952, Mother Teresa opened Pure Hearts which is a home for the dying. On the very first day that
she did this she picked up a women that was half-eaten by rats and ants and carried and cleaned her in the
home. Another one of her foundation is Shishu Bhavan which is a home for babies. It was dedicated for
children whose parents cannot take care of them or have left them on the streets.
It was in 1979 where she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
