INTERNSHIP PROCEDURE

Objective of the Program

The internship program is designed to provide outstanding graduate-level students


and recent graduates with the diverse academic background, an opportunity to
acquire and learn about the development and implementation of MCG program
activities.
Internship will provide an opportunity to acquire experience and gain general
knowledge of project management and understanding of the organizational
functioning.

Description

Interns’ assignments vary greatly in terms of content. Interns are normally involved
in some aspect of the design, implementation and evaluation of MCG and its
Implementing Entities. Other tasks performed by the students include: conducting
research, writing documents, assisting in the organization of conferences, forums or
other collaborative events. Every attempt is made to match the interests of the intern
with the needs of the organization.
Interns are not staff members and may not represent MCG and it’s Implementing
Entities in any official capacity.

Eligibility Requirement for Internship:

Candidates for the Internship Program are selected on a competitive basis. The
following minimum qualifications are required:
Enrollment in a graduate-level degree program in a development related field
such as economics, management, law, finances, sociology, public relations,
environmental studies and public and business administration.
An interest in the work of the MCG and its’ projects in particular,
Demonstrated interest in the field of development;
Excellent knowledge/written and spoken skills in Georgian, English and
Russian.
Excellent computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications)
Excellent interactive and interpersonal skills.

Financial Aspects

The internship program operates on a non-salaried basis and company will reimburse
meal and transportation costs only.
Duration of Internship Assignments

Internship assignments may vary in length according to the availability requirements


of the intern as well as the needs of MCG, however internship will normally last no
less than two months and no more than six months. Internship assignments are
available on a full –time basis throughout the year, depending on the availability of
meaningful assignments and the needs and capacity of department availability to
receive and supervise interns.

Further Career Opportunities

Purpose of the Internship Program is not to lead to further employment with MCG
but to complement an intern's studies or provide additional job market experience.
Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of an internship.
Upon the completion of internship program, the successful interns will be provided
with an applicable letter of recommendation.

How to apply

The following documents should be sent to MCG office:


- Copy of the most recent Resume;
- a Cover Letter setting out the reasons why an applicant is seeking an internship with
MCG and what is expected from the experience;
- a reference letter from a senior faculty member who is fully acquainted with the
student's performance.
