Treating one's teeth in the private has a cost. What is the budget for extracting, lling, scaling or dental bleaching? Here are the rates.

Extracting a tooth

Not really, although we have more dentists in Mauritius. Most people consult a dentist as a last resort when they suffer from a bad tooth or
when they have to make insurance claims.

In Mauritius, each clinic / dentist practices its own tariffs. How do you explain this situation?
Fees are subject to different parameters: location, degree of sophistication of the equipment, quality of materials and raw materials,
competence and expertise of dentists, investment in studies and upgrading, among others. We respect international standards and the rates
charged are reasonable.

As MDA President, are you in favor of a uniform rate for dental care?
A uniform tariff is not feasible in the Mauritian context, since each dental surgery has its own constraints. People should change their mindset
and opt for preventive dentistry instead of curative dentistry. They should consult their dentists every six months. This will allow them to spend
less while having better oral health.
